I want to know what the book is about and how long it is (pages) along with these books:
-Catch 22
-This boy's life
-The Chosen

Please dont give them away! I just want to decide if they are books i'd be interested in and if anyone would recommend them. Thanks!

I read mank's periodisation, and I liked it very much, but I doubt I can use it as a source in this form.

I enquired whether culture was important in the development of a writer without much of it? I get my hero thrown in my face when he clings to me in my knapsack like a barnacle as James Augustine's future wife was on his back as they escaped to Paris, France. Why Mr. Dedalus later allowed himself to become mixed up with the disgusting Molly Bloomers the cockle lady when he was no longer an embryo beggars my belief. To talk about omnipresent clusters when I am only on page three of a difficult enough work when a lot of people don't believe Finnegan was awake but only dreaming and where I have yet to throw my weight into the argument, does not help. I thought this was the place for answers and all I get is questions. It's simple enough- Can you get enough of culture?

I know what a "Catch-22" situation is - but does anyone know WHY these situations are referred to by this obscure name? Is there anything in the book that explains the orgin of this term?

I found this about 10 years ago in a old cemetery that was being moved. and have looked ever where trying to find the author of it.

Read this as you pass by;
As you are now so once was I;
As I am so you must be;
Prepare for death and follow me.

Is it because it's become really popular the last few years, or is it some sort of personal vendetta against good books?

I just told someone over the computer I liked the books, and they wouldn't stop laughing and taunting me. I ended up having to block them on AIM. I am just a bit confused about this.
