A friend of mine is an author. She writes stories of things that really happened to her. Her stories are very realistic, and based on things that really happened.
Visit her website, start with Tainted Sand, then move on to Tainted Towers. Her latest book is Tainted Town, and it is really interesting. I could not believe that she had these things happen to her.
Each book is about 300 pages. This should take about 3 hours to read. Another friend of mine says "don't start too late in the evening, because you won't put the book down".
Yes, you will find her book 21 Days with a Vulture quite interesting too.

All of Jane Austen's novels: Pride & Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, Emma.
C.S. Lewis's "The Chronicles of Narnia". There are seven books in the series, and they are good fun and not too difficult or long.
Biography. Just a pick a person you'd like to know more about and have the librarian help you find a book on that person.
Any of the books of Walter Farley. He wrote about the Sioux Indians and he is the one who wrote "The Black Stallion" that Francis Ford Coppola made such a beautiful film of.
And I like mysteries, especially Agatha Christie, Ellis Peters,
Dorothy Sayer.

It depends on what type of books you like to read. Personally I am NOT into the romance novels or sci-fi, I prefer memoirs or truth based books, true crime, and some novels based upon the content. I could give you a lot more suggestions if I knew your age...but One book that seems great for any age group or interest is "5 People you meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom. It's a "short" book, and it may whet you appetite to read even more.I hope you find something you truly enjoy, and if you do...let me know so I can read it!

Some favorites of mine: C.S. Lewis "The Screwtape Letters". A funny and sometimes though provoking series of "letters" between a couple of demons trying to understand the human race
If you like fantasy stories: Steve Lawhead's "In the Hall of the Dragon King"
If you like Science fiction: Issac Asimov: "Foundation", "Foundation and Empire" and "Second Foundation"
Peter David's Start Trek TNG novel "Q-in-law" (Can't remember the last time I laughted so hard at a book - and I am NOT normally a Start Trek novel fan)
For a little romance (with action), anything by Anne McCaffrey - especial her "Freedom's Landing" and "DragonRiders of Pern" novels.
And the book of "John" in the Bible

It all depends on what you are looking for. My favorite is "Fly Girl" by Omar Tyree. I read it in one day and I have read it twice since then. Another one of my favorites is this book called "Rich Kids." I forgot the author but it is a really good book as well. Another way to find good books is join Oprah's book club.

For thriller -mystery type John Saul is a really great writer.
I read Suzanne's Diary to Nicklaus by James Patterson last night and it made me cry - so if you are in one of those moods thats a good one. True crime? - Try a book by Ann Rule.
John sandford is a good read as is Stephen King and Dean Koonz

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants by Ann Brashares is a good pick for your age and there are three of them so far. If you like the first one you can read the other two. There is a movie about the first one that is good.
