I've been wanting a guitar for a while now, because I've really been getting into rock and metal genres, but I'm not so sure. I'm completely new to the instrument, but have a passion for the music so i think i could learn. Many people say i should get an acoustic guitar first, but i am a bit confused. I have played violin for 3 years and cello for one, and can read both trebel and base clef in case thats relevant in any way. It would also be extremely helpful if anyone can reccomend some starting equipment for me. The sort of music i listen to include AC/DC, Queen, Dragonforce, Breaking Benjamin... well you get the picture. Thanks very much if you answer! (sorry if its long, just trying to be informative)

the value of life depreciates as you go on after your 20s.

you get older, your health worsens, and you have already lived some of life. all you gain is experience and age.

does the shortness of life give it value?

I've heard that immortality is the most sought after prize. One that is currently impossible to get. But it sounds good right? Never dying. Getting to do what you love forever. My question is would you really want to be immortal? Wouldn't that get incredibly boring after you doing EVERYTHING for eons? I mean sure it will take a long long time to become good at everything but remember time is not an issue now. Eventually your going to be a master at everything, and than what? What will you do after you tire of doing everything?

I finally finished the 7th book of the Harry Potter series (nice ending, but I really mourned for Hedwig!), and I'm looking for more fantasy to read. Has anyone read books by these fantasy authors: Diana Wynne Jones, John Bellairs, Lloyd Alexander, Erin Hunter (Warriors series), Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl series), Susan Cooper, Anne McCaffrey, and would you recommend them or any others? I am interested in authors of adult fantasy books as well (but not 2 inches thick!). I've seen books by these authors at the library, and they all look interesting, but would like to hear opinions from those who have read them. Thanks!

I'm not just saying this because I'm her mother, but my daughter has a lot of raw natural talent. She has done a couple of plays for her school for drama club and was on "Slime Time" on Nickelodeon. She can sing, dance, and act. The problem is, we don't have any money to enroll her in professional training. Many of the websites that deal with acting for children are asking for an arm and a leg!!! I'm on disability, so I have a VERY limited income. I don't think that it's right that just because of our unfortunate situation that her dream of becoming an actress won't come true!! What can I do for her? We live about an hour from NYC. I don't know ANYTHING other than there are a lot of scam artists out there wanting money and cannot guarantee a job for my daughter. My doctors don't expect me to live for too much longer, and I want to die knowing that I helped make her dream come true. Please help me.

I mean no family, friends, relationship. What if all you do is get up go to work and come home, and you repeat this mundane routine everyday of your life. You don't even take days off work because there is nothing else to do.

never understood why people would want to own a painting over $10 million. why not get a good artist to draw the same painting and save the money. if you had a eye for artwork, the paintings should express the same feeling.

can someone please explain the main idea in this poem "The Dismantled Ship" by Walt Whitman? my paper needs to be a page. I get it is a decaying ship but what is that supposed to represent. I have a lot of trouble with finding meaning in Poems lol. Thankyou guys!!

"In some unused lagoon, some nameless bay,
On sluggish, lonesome waters, anchor'd near the shore,
An old, dismasted, gray and batter'd ship, disabled, done,
After free voyages to all the seas of earth, haul'd up at last and
hawser'd tight,
Lies rusting, mouldering."
