Read this short paragraph and answer the below question:
Dust devils whirled sand off the mountains. Even after the heaviest of rains, the water seeped back into the ground, between stones, and the earth was parched again.

What are the two images associated with rain in the third sentence?

I've been working on a comic for a little while now. It was recently suggested to me by my art teacher that I should look for a publisher; however, in addition to my age, or lack of it, at 15, and lack of any experience or knowledge of how to go about doing such, I haven't thought about it much. Now I'm wondering, how could I go about finding a publisher? I live in rural Missouri, so I imagine this is no simple feat. Is it impossible for someone like myself, being so young, and lacking any advanced art education or experience, to achieve this goal?

The genre doesn't matter much to me since I am only interested in classic novels. So far, I have read 22 novels and I'm going to go purchase some more next week. Heh.

"Myth provides us with absolutes in the place of ephemeral values and with a comforting perception of the world that is necessary to make the insecurity and terror of existence bearable."

I particularly don't understand the first half about replacing ephemeral values with absolutes... please help!

Are there any professional historians out there? I just love history, and I'd love to be a historian, but my teacher tells me there aren't very many jobs. I know I'd need to go to school for a long time, but is it possible? Where can you work? Is it just at Universities?

I was left with a picture from my grandmother when she died. I dont know much about it besides the name (either P Ross or R Ross.) Its a pic of a vase i think, its rough in texture and in the painting itself is old newspaper clippings embedded in the paint. I have pics if someone can help it would be appreciated.

I am not looking for history on Guderian (I can learn that on my own). What I am looking for is your "thoughts" good, bad, or indifferent. Statements with support to history would be appreciated BUT not necessary.

Seeing Phantom of the Opera in Chicago at a 2PM showing on a Saturday. Most dress codes seem to be aimed at nicer wear for the opera but we are spending the day in Chicago so don't really have the option of truly formal wear. Would the afternoon showing warrant more casual wear?

I have long desired to be an actress. I don't mind if it's for a small role, I don't expect to enter Hollywood or anything big. Unless I got the chance to, that would be the most amazing thing to ever happen to me. I would love to find out how I can be aware of auditions going on? Where do they mostly take place? Do you have to pay for it? What steps can I take? I would love some honest answers, and or links. Thanks everyone.

Not being laughed by your classmate and do all your works. Must be having something special to impress other people? Extra homeworks to be in lead of what your teacher teach? Not screawing up your future? Geting in a gifted class of french immersion? I'm french immersion actually way harder than the gifted.
