Hi people, PLEASE DONT GET OFFENDED BY THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN HELP!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I need to write a research paper by sep. 20, and it needs to be on african americans (blacks)

Blacks. Evaluate the degree of racism or gender bias that affected your chosen group from 1877 through 1919. In other words, what problems did they face economically, socially, and politically?
Next, trace the development of the Civil Rights Movement for your chosen group from the 1920's to the present. Include federal programs and legislation, key Supreme Court cases, leaders / organizations, and notable events dealing with Women, Hispanics, or Blacks.

I can’t deny how I feel for very long
Every time I do, the feeling comes back strong

I can’t escape these thoughts
Whenever I think of him my mind becomes distraught

Tried to save myself by saying good-bye
Didn’t know all of this would just leave me to cry

I lay on the ground thinking of my mistake
The worst one I could possibly make

I can’t even look at him or look into his eyes
What I feel now I can only feel inside

I die every time I see him sitting there
Him leaving just his memories, hung in the air

I thought saying good-bye would un-break my heart
But it seems as if heartbreak is just a painful art

Takes precision and quick thinking and lack of inhibition
But giving him up wasn’t part of the mission

I still feel the way I did before, maybe even more so
I thought to save myself this was the right way to go

I was wrong it seems, and it makes me sad
I didn’t know the great thing I had.

Quiet reply
on a damp grass dew.
Quick shadows passing,
from where the green grass blew.
Misty fog
Above the log
a cricket fondles its legs
and talks.
Frogs croak,
the mist rises slow.
The trees began to quiver lighlty,
the sun is in the sky,
filling the morning with light,
so slightly.
No burst of light
through the leaves.
It slowly emerges,
from that dark black sea.
Mist fades,
as the sky turns blue.
An owl flies over
and belows its last hoot.
The dew on the ground is all but gone.
And still I sit in the sky,
with my smile on.

Dry, caked blood envelops Veronica’s forehead. Her body shudders in sudden spasms, sending pain shooting up her fresh wounds, from which blood still trickles. She clutches her wrinkled fur jacket close to her freezing body as the glacial coldness pries at her. The chattering of her teeth sounds excruciatingly loud in the pin-drop silence. Her eyes flit from side to side at a rapid pace. They widen to an enormous size as she hears a faint creak outside. Her heart stutters and skips a beat. She waits, her ears straining to pick up the slightest sound, but outside the closet door waits only silence. Her chalk-white face breaks out into a cool sweat as she sees something shadowy nearing the door through the crack at the bottom. She sighs in relief as she sees that it is only a cockroach crawling under the door. She crouches down even lower, hugging herself, unsuccessfully trying to keep herself warm. (continued on the bottom...)

I'm looking for this poem that I read in high school for use in a college class, but I can't find it! It was in an anthology book in my high school's library, which is of course now not anywhere near me!

The poem is approximately 20-30 lines long, and it talks about how old men talk and tell the children about war, and when the second world war starts, they all enlist. It basically paints the older generation as talking up the war, and the children as ignoring the lessons of the first war... The last line ends in "and they went" or something like that.

Any leads?
