Having?

Don't Be A Stranger

Though the light shines bright
You will not enter
Why do you stand afar off
In the darkness
Is there a pain that hinders
Or is rebellion your only freedom
Does chaos reign in the intricacies
And is order just a weak realm
Will the love you seek
Be found in the dark mist
For you were issued from light
But you resist to return
If eyes do not lie
Then view mine
And find some measure
Of truth, logic and love
A shadowy step
I offer you to climb
So that your brightness
Will be brighter than mine

Dark, decrepit, dreary damned night
Fills my bowels with stones of fright
My eyes shift from the left to the right
While shadows dance in the pale moonlight

No human should walk the earth at this hour
Per chance to meet some unearthly power
I watch, I listen, I dodge, I cower
While heart burns, stomach churns, and mouth tastes sour

The cold wind howls with evil glee
Anticipating my destiny
I know some spectre waits for me
To rend, to end mortality

I watch it standing up ahead
With fingers of bone and eyes of red
Beckoning me to join the dead
I change my path, with feet of lead

I begin to tremble and I can swear
If only in mind, there's something here
And I die in waiting, there's death in fear
Damned night be gone, glorious dawn appear

This may seem like a dumb question, I understand the basic concept, comparing events in two or more places/times, but much of the comparative history I have encountered seems to be more sociology or anthropology than history. I understand that academic history sometimes does this, crosses into other disciplines, but comparative history is confusing to me. I know this is a vague question, but any insight you can offer is appreciated, any clearifications or descriptions of what compartive history is/means. Thanks in advance

As far as I heard it was Dionysius from Alexandria some 2000 years ago that classified all parts of a language, like verbs, nouns, ect. Was it really him? Does anyone have a good source where they got your info?
If it wasn't him, I would like to know who it really was.

Why is it that a lot of people who want to make it big in Hollywood end up doing softcore flicks? It seems like being in one of those movies would be career suicide for anyone that wants to ever be taken seriously in the industry. Do people who get involved in these films generally do it bc they think it will help their career? What do you think? Do you think people sell their souls just to get payed? Why do people do softcore instead of hardcore if they don't mind getting nude in front of the camera?

This is one of my favorite shots, but it is a slide that has faded over the years. The original was taken in 1981 or 1982 on Ektachrome while hanging out of an airplane door at about 1,200-1,500 feet up. Maybe it was 3,000 feet... I can't recall.

I have had an 8x10 version on display in my office for 25 years and it has finally faded to muted shades of brown, so I want to reprint the picture.

I have made one stab at editting for balance between light and dark levels and pumped up the contrast and saturation a little bit. I added some orange in the blown out highlight of the sun reflection on the river. I applied 50% unsharp mask.

What would YOU do if this was your shot?

Pain, Rain & Music

Now he’s got the girl
And I’ve got the pain
He’s got the honey
And I’ve got the rain

He gets kisses
While I get insane
But I got music
Running round in my brain

Pain inspired to compose
Black and Decker prose
A rose is a rose
But ends in woes

Her voice is gone
Let my heart sing
Of the days of spring
She was everything

Now absence from me
I must drown in the sea
Let the wave cover my agony
My agony

When I rise again
From the depths
From the precepts
I must accept
My all alone steps

And it doesn’t matter
That I shatter the quiet
With a musical riot
Cause deep down inside
I just don’t buy it

Cause he’s got the girl
And I’ve got the pain
He’s got the honey
And I’ve got the rain…

L’Oneliness

What mountain is higher than loneliness
And what valley is lower than despair
For my heart is torn in the wake of apathy
And I long for a life to share

The light stays dim behind my shades
And all the shadows glow
My voice echoes off the wall
With words that I don’t know

An orange beam filters in
Unwelcome guest in my room
What right the sun to be so bright
When I am filled with deadly gloom

My heart beats irregular
And my thoughts have no pattern
And I hear the wicked laughter
Because the ravens are a-gathering

My soul is on the wire
This might be the end
All the darkness, all the pain
Just cause I have no friend

So if you see me on the outside
Just smile and nod your head
And know that I’m still living
And not yet the living dead

If orange were red
And red were blue
Would you look at me
If I said I was you

If the truth were a lie
And a lie were a joke
Could you tell my painting
By the stroke

Cause you plagiarize
And you stole from me
Now a lie you are
And shall ever be

When the sun gets mad
Orange turns to red
And the strokes on the canvas
Is where I bled

Now you are me
And I got what I’m due
And a joke is a joke
Cause I stole from you too

I just graduated from my school and won't have kiln access anymore. I've been offered space outdoors if I want to build my own kiln. Can anyone give me advice (or plans) for how to build a *small* (room for ~6 medium size vessels would be fine) wood burning kiln?

I currently use grey and red clay (Hy-bond F-97 and Hy-bond F-96) which is glaze fired to cone 6. What temperatures can I expect to reach with a wood kiln, where can I find a stoking procedure, and what clay should I try?

While philosophies offer ethics on how we should live our lives, I propose that our intrapersonal relationship far outweighs all else.

How does the "I" treat the "me"? With dignity and respect, or with contempt and disdain? Do we speak kindly to ourselves, or speak hurtful, cruel and ugly comments? Do we judge ourselves harshly, or allow ourselves to be humans who learn and grow over time?

Your thoughts?

Firstly I think I have a natural nack at being a good actor to certain emotions. Basically anything besides crying, I can be sad, but I cant make myself cry.

I am 20, joining the Marines for 4 years, and after that I want to become an actor. I am wondering if there is any chance I can hit it big by the time I am 26, or get a nice part in a movie??

Also my face is asymmetrical, noone usually notices except me so it's not that bad, but I notice it in pictures. Should I get that surgery where they add a bit of bone to one side of my jaw?? That is what I would need to fix it, but not sure if it's that important.

The type of role I would want to play is being a badass or something, or a serious type role.

I have a natural aura and energy about me so I think I can get somewhere if I just knew the right people....

sorry for the rant haha...

I wish that you were here,
when I washed that final tear,
it reminded me of the way you made me feel,
it was not a dream it was totally real.

I saw you outside the window,
waiting for summer to come,
and now that its finally here,
you only wish that I was near.

I open the door to see you,
but you were not there,
I looked everywhere,
but you were nowhere to be found.

I wanted to cry my heart out,
but that would not solve a thing,
so I gathered my belongings to find you,
but I soon found that you were gone for good.

Now I miss you more than ever,
you must have known,
you were always that clever,
I could not see what you had shown.

Ill make it alright if you just come back,
why did you go in the first place,
was it because of the way I act,
I can make it better if i just erase.

I am sorry that I just watched you,
but never told you to come in,
I am sorry that this was over,
before it could ever begin.
