As far as I heard it was Dionysius from Alexandria some 2000 years ago that classified all parts of a language, like verbs, nouns, ect. Was it really him? Does anyone have a good source where they got your info?
If it wasn't him, I would like to know who it really was.

The oldest known grammar was written in India by Panini (5th century BC). In the West, the origins of grammar can be traced to Greece, where Rhyanus and Aristarchus of Samothrace worked on it during 3rd century BC.
