I asked a question a little while ago about fairy tale sand fantasy and why we don't strive to make them real if we like them so. I received many interesting answers but they al centre red around one central theme, we live in the 'real' world.

While our universe has laws of physics (Chaos Theory, Small World Effect, Thermodynamics, Random Chance, etc.) that prevent the more outrageous parts of fairy tales and fantasy like magic spells, magic creatures, destiny, etc. We are still capable of shaping the world to the way that we wish it to be, this one of the defining characteristics of humans.

So if we can shape the world to our will and if we have our fantasies of what the perfect world would be, why are we unable to make it happen?

AND

What is it about us as humans that makes us make the world the way that it is today?

Serious answers only please.

Please don't say that it is the fault of money, those in power, etc. because we have the ability to change it.

I would like to buy some books from booksellers in The US of A. Can someone please give me a rough idea what it would cost to have them posted (or shipped some other way) to England.
I think a book would weigh about a pound in weight (wouldn't it?)
I looked on the 'net but could only find costs from UK to USA. Not all that helpful because there's differences in prices according to Cost of Living Indexes(and such-like).
What's the best way to ship them, please?
Mail, or Freight, or Ship, or What?
What do US booksellers normally do?
Anyway,Thanks for your Time.

This is a painting, not done recently, I almost want to say rennaissance-era, done by I think it was an Italian painter (the name sounded Italian anyways). It was called "Winter".

It is a painting of a head, but the head looks like it's made of roots, and there's a branch growing out of its neck, and growing on the branch are two yellow lemons. I remember reading that the artist did four potraits like this, depicting the four seasons. If anyone knows what the artist's name is, or where I can see I picture of the painting on the net, this would be great. Thank you.

I have been to Columbia College film school (no BA...), have made a few 16mm and DV shorts, the latter were edited on Final Cut Pro. I know my stuff fairly well. I know I would have to live cheap in LA and work with/for kids 5 or so years younger than I. I already want to make movies and am driven, and dedicated. I had to take 6 years to settle some family stuff. That being said, my first question is would I be taken seriously starting at 29 or 30?

I really want to be an auteur, like Robert Rodriguez. My second question is; can do this in the Hollywood system, starting in editing and post? It would be very good for making contacts, and getting up-to-date experience. Or, should I just try and do it all myself like Rodriguez, Raimi, and their clones who mostly end up lost in obscurity? Failure on my own would mean starting in Hollywood even later. I think a lot, sorry if this is muddled and too long. And THANK YOU!

I know these books are kind of young, but I started reading them a couple years ago and though I'm a teen now, I still love them. I was just curious of other people's opinions.
