i am mother of a little girl, i need a coustoms for book day at school but i don't know what to wear or which character to choose.

When we did this at the school I worked at it was Easter, I got a pair of rabbit ears from the local joke shop. Put on a pair of plain black wide leg trousers, a baggy white shirt and a black waistcoat I had. I created a fake watch on a piece of cardboard which I had first covered in silver foil and attached it to the waistcoat with an old silver chain from somewhere. I used cotton wool to create a big fluffy tail which I managed to stick on and it stayed !! If you havent a clue who I was it was the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland . I just used a picture in the book to try and get some form of rabbit type make up on my face.
Dont go too elaborate simple is the best thing and the children all guessed who I was. The only thing I had to buy was the ears. We had the best fun that day and a hall full of 100 children calling for the White Rabbit made me so happy, I was too busy in the office but the Head wasnt having that so she got the children to call me.

find a character your child really likes like a princess you could both have lots of fun making your costume from any old clothes your clothes or a trip to a charity shop their are so many characters like Goldy locks lots of princesses or that little ballet mouse its really not about spending loads of money its about exploring books and having fun
