You can make the step sister adopted & really the true "next in line" person to take the throne. She is like the "secret" half sister to the prince.

It was a hush ... hush ... thing that was just recently discovered!

Good Luck!

Do a real twist and make the stepsister a sympathetic character--how she loved her deceased father, who was rich--how Cinderella's father came on the scene and suddenly the money was gone, and he died--stepsister doesn't blame Mom for the lost money, but Cindrella's dad--and since he's gone, well Cindy can work extra hard to help the family regain its former status. You go on from there.

That idea sounds kind of familiar to me, actually, so your story should have something in particular that makes it really unique, because you already have one person answering this question who is writing about the same thing, so yours should either be really unique and have good ideas in it, or it would have to be absolutely spectacular.

the idea i contribute to this is that one of stepsisters has ocd, so cinderella always has to put things in exactly the right place.

The stepsister is very ugly and so is extremely jealous of Cinderella who is so pretty. So this brings out sibling rivalry, envy and jealousy. And that's why she behaves so badly.

But the stepsister is very sad that she is so ugly and feels unwanted and inferior - all she really wants is to be loved and told that she has a good heart and many fine qualities - and that 'beauty fades - but dumb is forever' (to quote Judy Judy's book title.)

what fun this was. Thanks.

Yes, but I am already writing a novel about it so I am not going to tell you.
