I am reading The Merchant of Venice right now. In Act 1, Part 2, what are Portia and Nerissa trying to say/get to? What is the point of thier LONG drawn conversation?????

I am so sick of this course I am taking in Critical Reasoning. Some people are just naturally philosophical, but not me. I have to write 3 critical essays based on articles in my text. I need to identify and evaluate by a range of criteria that I have read about (but not retained) throughout the duration of this course. I should probably just get off of Yahoo Answers and do what I gotta do to get it done! I just don't know how to get started!
