I have; I think they are very well written but convoluted. I think he should have let Roland find the Dark Tower and that magic ball he was looking for at the end. He didn't find it, though, and at the end of the last book I was confused and disappointed. I wished he wouldn't have let Susan get killed either, so she could have kept Roland company and maybe a little saner on his journey.

I've read almost everything he's published. I loved the Dark Tower Series. It was well written with amazing characters and more twists and turns than a mountain trail. Even when writing fantasy, suspense and the ability to keep you from putting that book down are his strongest points as a writer.
Did you know that the whole series was inspired by Robert Browning's poem Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came?

I've read most of Stephen King's books and really enjoyed them. The Dark Tower series is definitely his most fully realized story with ties to many of his other stories and even incorporating his life and writing in it. The series is more fantasy than horror and the characters are wonderfully drawn. I really enjoyed them even though I did not like the ending, it felt like a cop out to me.

But on the whole definitely worth the time to read.

Yes I have read them. I loved the first four. In the last three there were some parts that were really good, but on the whole they felt like he was rushing to finish, and in my opinion they could have been a lot better. Still worth reading though, especially if you have already started. There is no doubt that King is a very talented writer.
