~Yes, about 90% of the Native American population was exterminated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Oh, you didn't mean the original. Sorry. Then stop by Dachau or Auschwitz and check out the ovens.

well, contrary to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's ravings, the Holocaust did exist. Approximatley 11 million Europeans were killed, 6 million of them being Jews destroyed systematically in concentration camps.

It's history goes all the way back to the Second Diaspora, when the Romans dispersed the Jews throughout their Empire in retaliation for their rebelling in mid first century Jerusalem. Many of those Jews ended up in Spain and eastern Europe because western Europe under charlemagne and the Holy Roman Empire was intolerent of Jews.

Once Spain was freed of Muslim control, it too became uncomfortable for Jews, and they fled to Eastern Europe. Add to this the pogroms that pushed Jews out of the Russian empire and you have quite a bit of them pushed into the corridor of Eastern Europe. They were avoiding western Europe like the Plague because they were in fact blamed for the 14th century Black Plague there and also the French were not known for being welcoming to Jews. In late 19th century France, a Jewish officer was falsely accused of spying.

The Jews were blamed for starting World War I with some faked documents called the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The German people were furious with the raw deal they were given with teh Treaty of Versailles, so the Jews became the scapegoat of Germany struggling to come to terms with the retribution the French visited upon them in that treaty.

So, once Hitler came to power, more and more laws began to take place to control the Jews. First, it was limits on their professions and places of residence. Then it was an amassing of the Jews into the Jewish ghettos. Next came the shipping them out to camps. A classic example of the terror that befell them happened on Krystallnacht, when the shops of Jews were destroyed.

Finally, the "Final Solution" to the "Jewish Question" was put into action.

As the Nazis saw the war going the Allies way, they stepped up their murders to help further their solution and to help cover up their atrocities.

Hope that helps. I can't help thinking you're subscribing to Iran's doubting of this tragedy by the wording of your question. I hope I'm wrong.

yes I mean where have you been
Totality of destruction has been central to the meaning of holocaust since it first appeared in Middle English in the 14th century, used in reference to the biblical sacrifice in which a male animal was wholly burnt on the altar in worship of God. Holocaust comes from Greek holokauston (“that which is completely burnt”), which was a translation of Hebrew ‘ōlâ (literally “that which goes up,” that is, in smoke). In this sense of “burnt sacrifice,” holocaust is still used in some versions of the Bible. In the 17th century the meaning of holocaust broadened to “something totally consumed by fire,” and the word eventually was applied to fires of extreme destructiveness. In the 20th century holocaust has taken on a variety of figurative meanings, summarizing the effects of war, rioting, storms, epidemic diseases, and even economic failures. Most of these usages arose after World War II, but it is unclear whether they permitted or resulted from the use of holocaust in reference to the mass murder of European Jews and others by the Nazis. This application of the word occurred as early as 1942, but the phrase the Holocaust did not become established until the late 1950s. Here it parallels and may have been influenced by another Hebrew word, šô’â (“catastrophe,” in English, Shoah). In the Bible šô’â has a range of meanings including “personal ruin or devastation” and “a wasteland or desert.” Šô’â was first used to refer to the Nazi slaughter of Jews in 1939, but the phrase haÅ¡-šô’â (“the catastrophe”) became established only after World War II. Holocaust has also been used to translate hÌ£urbān (“destruction”), another Hebrew word used to summarize the genocide of Jews by the Nazis.

Yes it really happened. I was born in 48. Sounds like you were born way later. My family's cousins were lost in this terrible act. Our family came to America around 1872. Some of the family stayed in Germany. My grandfather (born in USA) had had commication with them. He would send them letters, but when he no longer received any more letters, he had a bad feeling that something was really wrong. This was before WW2 started. I believe about 1937. I think you should go to web search for more on this.

If I did that it would take all night and I don't have time. Go to the Holocaust museum in DC and figure it out. They were tattooed with numbers to distingush them and keep track of where they were. Millions of people were killed by a crazed man and that is just the Jews he killed. He killed his own people if they didn't agree with him.

Yes it was during or before or probably what caused world war two. Hitler is what started it. A terrorist who had a lot of followers that followed his teachings to kill Jewish people or they took the Jewish people to a concentration camp and treated them like slaves and killed babies. Like throw newborns in fire cut womans hair. People got sick, and died got scabies it was also during the great depression. It was a hard time. I couldn't imagine. I just studied this last year in eigth grade. Look it up on wikipedia . com it has even more details. The Hitler lead his group the Nazis to start the holacaust. U should read the book Anne Frank which is a great book. A 14 year old girl who got taken away to the concentration camp becuase she was jewish. And this is a true story. The book has the diary of her whole life.
