I'm very bad at estimating reading levels for young people, though I do remember liking many young-adult and adult books when I was younger. Though I may not understand all the concepts, I was able to read and re-read those books as I aged and could grasp deeper meanings in the text. Could Watership Down be one of those books to come back to in years to come for a child? Or is it plain too old for an 11-year-old reader?

I guess I'm not looking for ideas, exactly. But does anyone know a website where I could find samples on how to improve prose style or develop a plot? How about tips on creating and developing more believable characters?

Most people say my story's good so far, but I know it needs something. I have many ideas, but I don't know how to add that extra punch to the story, to make it more than just a main character and her wanderings and her problems.

In short, how do I get the plot off the ground?!

I have been a working writer for 17 years. My website is www.finneganthepoet.com. I have long sought publication, but am really sick of the run around and bs. I believe in myself and my work, and can deliver excellent live performance. But publication is the only way I can be taken seriously and legitiamate.
