...address poverty and disease?

If the Mona Lisa is priceless why can't the quality of the lives of 1 billion people?

It's just a painting...take a photo of it.

If you could sell the Mona for $1 Billion and put all those monies into a cancer cure how can that not be a fantastic bargain??

Like I said, they're young reader books like the Redwall series--animals running around adventuring and battling sinister forces and the like.

I know there are at least two books in the series. The first book's title includes an owl, a tooth or a claw or some similar combination perhaps? Then, the sequel (I think) is titled the main cat character's name--with a photo of a cat in some grass on the cover.

These are obscure details, I know--but I don't have anything else to go on. I really want to know because I'm thinking of writing a book like this sometime down the road (and my wife and I are having a little girl soon--she needs to have cool books to read). Thanks!

My friend got on a bit of a kick lately, and she went and traced her ancestry, which is pretty cool, I'll admit that. But she managed to trace it back to the year 3AD, and found that there is some royalty in her family. Now I'm not trying to rain on her parade or anything, but what are the odds that she successfully traced it back that far and accuratly to 3AD? Because I know that a lot of professionals have a hard time going back over 2000 years, and I'm just wondering if it would be possible, for a total amature of 20 years old, to be able to trace her history back 2000 years, using only the internet.

I have some books that I am thinking about on which one to read first. They are:

Critique of Pure Reason- Kant
Being and Time- Heidegger
Being and Nothingness- Sartre
Deconstruction and Philosphy- On Derrida's thought
Margins of Philosophy- Derrida
Limited Inc.- Derrida

Should I go from earliest to latest or begin deconstruction then deconstruct from there?

We have ALL seen it- that angular letter "S" that we used to draw on our school notebooks & see on walls on the streets. (at least in the cities)

You make it by drawing 3 lines next to each other then 3 more lines right under those, then connecting some of them to form a pointy, angular letter "S".

WHEN did that start??? Maybe someone over 40 (I'm 38) could give a bit of insight.

I remember seeing it back in the 70s as a kid, but it may go further back than that...

I would love to join a book club, but I don't have the time to go to weekly or monthly meetings to discuss the books. I am looking for an online discussion group where the members of the group take turns choosing a book to read, and then discuss the books online.

I have a huge final on the horror story "The Pit and the Pendulum" by Edgar Allen Poe. I've read the story, but I cant imagine any questions that will be on the test. Our teacher did hint that we should understand the "deeper meaning" in the context of the story. Has anyone took a test on this before? What were some of the questions? THANKS.
