The page is www.myspace.com/shag45 if you want to read any of the stories before you give your answer. The stories beginning with "Random Fiction" in the titles are the ones I am referring to. Thanks for any input.

There is a book that you can get really cheap on Ebay or Amazon called something like "The Writer's Guide for Short Stories and Novels" (I'm sorry, i can't remember the exact title, but if you type that in I'm sure you'll get some hits on the title). The book has lots of addresses to magazines and other places that publish short stories. If you get this book, make sure you get a 2005 or newer version--they update every year, so the newer the better.

Good luck!

If you want to become a good writer, you have to research your market.

Buy magazines you like to read, then send them stories you have written.

I wrote stories for Black Jive Confession 20 years ago. Five stories were printed, one was reprinted in their annual.

the best piece of advise I can offer you is this, go to a book store and browse the magazine aisle and see which ones your stories conform to, write a query to them and waint for the response

Some short story contests are:

http://www.pw.org/mag/grantsawards.htm

http://writersdigest.com/contests/

Writer's digest, i know, accepts short stories.

Art times, although their website is slightly shabby, pays pretty well, I think, for short stories and it's pretty much all they accept!

go for it!!
