I can't find anything about it's reprsenting "sharing", but the color orange:

"Orange represents energy, consuming physiological potency, power, and strength. Orange is the expression of vital force, of nervous and glandular activity. Thus, it has the meaning of desire and all forms of appetite and craving. Those with Orange as a Primary Color feel the will to achieve results, to win, to be successful. They desire all things that offer intense living and full experience.

Orange generates an impulse toward active doing: sport, struggle, competition and enterprising productivity. In temporal terms, Orange is the present."

Maybe an orange is said to represent sharing because you can split it up into so many sections so easily and give those to others.

I think you read something by someone who was just making things up & trying to sound wise. Anyone can make up stuff like that. Here are some examples: An acorn represents wisdom. A cat's tail represents loving your neighbor. A hamburger represents understanding.

See how easy it is? You can do it too. Don't be a sucker. Things like that are baloney. You couldn't find any reference material because there isn't any. The idea is hogwash. An orange can represent whatever you want it to.

This is what I wrote in my book about color:

"Orange

Orange radiates warmth, cheerfulness, and vitality. With these qualities, it should be more popular. It combines the passion of red with the joyfulness of yellow.
Variations of orange include: rust, peach, adobe, coral, brown, terra cotta, and beige.

If Orange is your favorite color
People who like orange are adventurous, enthusiastic, and expansive with sunny dispositions, unique ideas, and strong determination. They get along with everyone, are friendly, quick-witted, and fluent in speech. (One writer talks of enviable good cheer—the Irish personality, in relation to orange.) You may also yearn for the warmth of home, a safe comfortable haven.

If you dislike Orange
This may indicate mental and physical exhaustion. You could be a very serious person who is uncomfortable around gregarious types and probably prefer a quiet life, but you would make a loyal friend.

Psychological effects of Orange
Alleviates feelings of self-pity and lack of self-esteem. Acts as an antidepressant and renews interest in life.

Physiological effects of Orange
Orange is simulating, invigorating, flatters the complexion, and livens up the gloomiest day. Like red, Orange is an appetite stimulant.

The image you project when wearing Orange
Conscientiousness and consideration with a friendly interest in others."
I used a lot of different sources and studied the subject for many years. This is my favorite color, by the way.

I would be happy to send you a list of books I constulted.
