No goodies, unless they gets paid for
The bent brown box from a straight brown truck
My Buck knife slips down the taped edges
The flaps unfold, exploding foam
Underneath, another package I see
This one is wrapped in golden paper
To you from me, it says on the label
I lift out the package, spilling peanuts
The ribbon and bow had a rough trip in the truck
But my box looks no worse for wear
I loose the bindings from my bundle
Delicately tearing away the tape
I like to save the paper, I don’t know why
Under the golden sheet is another layer
A cornucopia printed on the box
I raise it up high and shake it around
I have no idea what is inside
It is very light…

Either according to Christianity or Human evolution theories, all human beings first "arrived" at the same time all over the world. But why were some human beings more civilized, or had more of that complex mind than other human beings at a different location?

Why did the human in Erope become more civilized than in Asia and Africa?

Still, why was Egypt stood out as the most civilized nation in its surrounding region? Whereis in Europe, the level of civilization was spread out and more even?

I'm a foreign student here. English reading and listening are not hard to improve but I find that speaking is rather difficult to learn by self. If I encounter a word but do not know the exact pronunciation, what is the easiest way to find it? I have dictionaries but they are Britain-English based.

So is there any CDs, Website, Media, Tools, or other methods to know the American pronunciation of each word I encounter? Dictionary may be good but I think the "real" sound could help me "really" understand what the pronunciation is.

I am 40+ weeks pregnant and wondering how much you gained during pregnancy, whether or not you returned to your pre-pregnancy weight, and how long it took to get there. FYI-I was 136 lbs at my six week appt. (5'6) and now weigh a whooping 186 lbs. I plan to begin exercising as soon as possible and have planned 10 5k and 10ks for this spring/summer. I also plan to breastfeed.

okay i found a spider that i think was a brown recluse and i am worried that my baby sister may get bitten by one if it was one and i want to know if anyone could identify it

okay here is the desciption, well it was pretty dark brown and there was a half of a diamond elongated and thin in the middle of the thorax and on both sides starting about a forth of the way down the diamond there were four dots on both sides

the problems with me not being able to identify it is that every pic I see is either they all look different or the pics are too small to see the details.

What should we do about societies such as the one in Pakistan and so many other nations? seems like we ignore the problem the radicals take over, gain nuke weapons and most likely use them on everyone they do not like.I grieve for the many peace loving people of such nations, ruled by the few that are armed and use terrorism to promote their brand of Islam.It makes me sick to hear our presidential candidates rip this administration for Bhuttos murder, seems Bush and Co. are doing the best they can to address a region in chaos, seems no one can fix this problem...but what about islamic radicals obtaining nuke weapons? they use them and all other problems pale in comparison.Poor Bennazar Bhutto, she like so many other women in other cultures are just striving for equal rights or just basic human rights and your small in number islamofascist supress and murder any woman/cattle that dare to rise up.Are we morally obligated to intervene in behalf of the oppressed, gays, women ect?

As far as i concern , there was no post-mortem carrried out for such influencial person. Well, I ponder why do the Pakistani rush to bury her without much organisation and examination, she was buried the day after she was assasinated.

Will Pakistan plunge into a situation similar to Iraq? I think politic is a very tricky game in this region, one mistake by the leader can lead to the country into complete chaotic. I believe it is going to a while before peace can be restored.
It's also strange to witness that people are vandalising and being violent on the street. Revenge only make things worse i guess.Have they not learn from their neighbour Iraq or Aghanistan?

Most men here in America will not date Black women at all, I get very jealous of Hispanic, White and Asian women because these types of women are lighter skin and get the most men atteantion. I'm black woman and I have a light complextion but My skin tone is consider to be dark to other Ethnic groups and etc. things. Sometimes I get stare at by these kind of people. Hispanics talking spanish in front of me and things. how come these men don't want black women?

I recently got my son a laptop for Christmas, Ive ordered the DSL in which I have still yet to recieve for the internet axcess. However, someone has told me that you can pay like $30.00 for a card and use it and not even have to have a home phone service for it. I know there are wireless internet services available, and I am finding it cheaper to get the DSL and the basic home phone, but is there a cheaper way out?

We have a dry erase wall, and kids have written a lot of things on it with dry erase markers. We want to take the markings off but some of it is kind of stuck... Do I use vinegar? Nail polish remover (what if that takes off the shiny layer??)? What do you recommend?

Chapter Three: Flash Memories.

The lights in the bathroom were dim and the tub was filling up with water. I took a look around the room and came across a bottle of bubble bath solution near the sink. There were a stack of towels on the towel rack above the toilet. I grabbed a white towel and tossed it onto the shower curtain. I picked the bottle and squirted some solution into the running water, creating a large lump of foam. While the tub was filling up, I look off my clothes and tossed them aside. By the time the tub was already half full, I twisted the faucet and took a dip into the lukewarm water. After a few minutes, I felt at peace. Squishing the thick foam felt like mashed potatoes. I took a second look around the room. The magenta walls and the dim light made nearly everything else appear the same color. The smell of chamomile swept me from reality. I was right about the bath. It really was a nice place to relax and think.

I submerged myself into the warm water and closed my eyes. The first thought I had was about the city of Grendel. The picture that came into my mind was the newspaper article that I have read earlier this morning. The mugshot of the girl resembled me and according to the article itself, I was wanted for something, but for what? What was it like in Grendel? Will I find some clue to my past? Will I ever find my parents? Should I go to Grendel? A part of me began to completely shut down.

I was no longer underwater. The sky was dark and the moon was half circular. A man stood in front of me, and he seemed to be waiting for me. The man did not smile. He had long red hair that was pulled back and braided.

“Come at me as if you’re going to kill me.” he said.

I nodded. I charged at him with great speed ready to attack, but he grabbed my hair the moment I was close enough to do so.

"Pathetic" He said and tossed me aside. "Try again"

I got back on my feet and panted. The man gave me a dirty look, he expected me to do a better job at whatever I was doing. I charged at him once more, and once again he pushed me aside.

"You're weak" he said, "I don't see the dark emotions in your eyes. All I see from you is love and affection. Do you love me Lily?"

"I do Master." I said and smiled at him.

"Get rid of it." he said. "I have told you several times. I don't love you back. I couldn’t care less about you. When are you ever going to get rid of this weak emotion?”

"I don't know Master." I whispered.

"What have I told you about that?"

"Love no one but you" Despite what he said, I still showed affection for him. "Because no one will love you back.”

"Good. Now, what are you to me?"

"Nothing more than your servant." I said. "Nothing more than your weapon and tool whose purpose is to do as Master sees fit."

"Good girl." said Master. "Let's go home"

I got up and followed him out of the meadow. The moment I held his hand, he snatched it away and gave me another dirty look.

“Master…” I whispered, but he ignored me.

“Master, why don’t you love?”

Master stopped walking and looked down at me. He seemed annoyed when he heard me ask that.
