I believe in mystery and, frankly, I sometimes face this mystery with great fear. In other words, I think that there are many things in the universe that we cannot perceive or penetrate and that also we experience some of the most beautiful things in life in only a very primitive form. Only in relation to these mysteries do I consider myself to be a religious man. But I sense these things deeply. What I cannot understand is how there could possibly be a God who would reward or punish his subjects or who could induce us to develop our will in our daily life.

BUCKY:

Ah, this is what I mean about religion and science going hand-in-hand! Each has a place, but each must be relegated to its sphere. Let's assume that we are dealing with a theoretical physicist or scientist who is very well-acquaintcd with the different laws of the universe, such as how the planets orbit the sun and how the satellites in turn orbit around their respectivc planets. Now, this man who has studied and understands these different laws-how could he possibly believe in one God who would be capable of disturbing the paths of these great orbiting masses?

No, the natural laws of science have not only been worked out theoretically but have been proven also in practice. I cannot then believe in this concept of an anthropomorphic God who has the powers of interfering with these natural laws.

So i have a personal dilemma. My brother is a junior in college and just came home this weekend for christmas break. My parents were also out of town... So anyway, I discovered that he smokes pot... all the time. He bought a new bowl bubbler thing and excitedly showed it to me. I didn't know what to say... I just kind of laughed it off.. but it has been REALLY bothering me lately. Don't get me wrong. I'm no angel... but the fact that he doesn't see any problem with smoking makes me question his judgement. Yesterday I also saw him popping adderall...

My parents aren't strict at all. They let us drink alcohol (and we're not 21) but I think they would have a problem with my brother spending their money on drugs...Should I tell my parents? Where do I draw the line of being a good sister or a good daughter?

I'm completely against the renewed whaling efforts by the Japanese. I thought we had learned enough about the intelligence and social structure of these animals to leave them alone. But I guess not. The Japanese just "gotta have" the most exotic sushi they can get.

That said, in the current climate of anti-terrorism efforts, could the Japanese treat interference by a Greenpeace ship as an act of aggression by a terrorist organization, and if the Japanese Navy was accompanying their whaling ship, would that Navy vessel be within its rights to take any responsive action necessary to defend its ship from terrorists?

In other words, torpedo and sink the ship?

It's really no different than if Al Quaida had a ship and it was attacking other ships at sea. Greenpeace may have better intentions, but their tactics are still an act of terroristic aggression, no less than eco-terrorists who set fire to SUV car lots.

i dont believe you can lose your salvation according to the scriptures so my problem is not in there preaching because
they dont bring up on there sermons but when i started to go to there bible study on the book of romans i saw they were teaching in a way that you must hang on to christ for dear life and if you let go you lose your salvation now my problem is
how can learn the scriptures from a church who teaches the scriptures on there once save not always save. and iwas taught once save always save. so for me i dont think i could learn from there teaching of scriptures because the must twist the book of romans to come up with that believe. now im thinking of finding another church .what should i do?

My husband is terrrible with this, and I know of a couple other chaps who sound as loud, yet I don`t and have not heard of any of my female friends do so.

Would I be correct in thinking it can do damage?

I know I could easily get some suspect answers, but I would appreciate some - at least a little serious!

helo, I really need a professional help for my internet cafe. i installed my cafe timer in my server and copied each ip address of each of my pc workstation. everything runs well. the next day, some of the cafe timer in my workstation wont work. when i checked the ip address of the pc workstations in my server, the ip addresses changes.

my settings in my IP is "Obtain IP address". I need my settings to be this way.

My moms Chihuahua only have 4 "toe nails" or "finger nails" The does have 5 "pads" but no nail to go along with the 5th "pad" at all, Not on any of the 4 feet. My dog however has 5 "pads" as well as 5 nails. Is this a Chihuahuas trait??

Please be kind with your answers, I am near rock bottom already :) I am 56. My 28 yr old married daughter and with 2 babes, she doesn't want me in her life. In complete shock to me, this started when she got engaged at age 24, I had no idea of her dis-like for me. Much longer story, but for here :) What I need to know is why is it "shutting me down"? It haunts my every moment ?? If you can suggest some things for me to start looking at or email me so we can talk, I know I can overcome this, but I can't seem to shake it. I know God well, incase you were going to suggest I "get God" :) I am a 1/2 sick, retired elem teacher with no other family.

So heres the story, Im a 26 yr old lesbian and have been with my girlfriend whos 47for 2 yrs. We live together and all we do is fight. She is very selfish & verbally abusive. We have almost a love/hate relationship. Last yr we were having some problems & with no notice she tells me shes moving to Bklyn & that I should go home to my Mom's. I was devastated. I wasnt read to end the rel. &said I would move with her to Bklyn. Since Ive been here we still fight so much & I resent her for how &what she did to me. Shes always putting me down saying Im immature, she cant wait to get rid of me, I'm crazy, etc then when she calms down she tels me that Im such an angel & I'm so good & that she knows she gets crazy. I cant take it anymore. I am so depressed-I feel dead inside. I go to work &come home &go to sleep. Friends keep telling me to leave but I feel so weak. She even tells me to leave if Im so unhappy. I guess im waiting for her to change. What should I do? How do I get strong?

She's been in my life for about ten years.
We've been friends for about seven of those, but I feel like I pull the weight of the friendship.
She's cute, but not gorgeous. I tell her of how pretty I think she is. Especially when she's down on herself.
I did tell her I had a crush on her once, so I guess she knows what I think and feel about our friendship.
So even though she can be kind and caring, she can also be manipulative, because she knows I will do anything for her.
I don't want anyone else, I want her... Why???
