fruits, veggies, meat, you name it, as long as he can swallow it without a choking hazard. Applesauce is always a good one to start with if it's a first time thing.

Have you already introduced any solids? If you haven't, then you start with vegetables (pureed), and feed them the same kind every day for 3-5 days. After about the 4th day you can introduce a new kind. This way you know if there are any reactions and what kind of food caused them. If you've already been feeding your baby solids just continue on in the same way. They're not ready to be eating really chunky foods but they can be slightly thicker than they were before. Make sure you feed a wide variety of flavours early on... then your baby will not be a picky eater as he/she gets older.

If you haven't already started him on baby food start with stage one but by now he should already be on stage two. Some people give cheerios at this age but I would wait a couple more months.

You can skip commercial baby foods and cereals, and feed your baby mashed fruits, mashed cooked vegetables, finely shredded meats, etc.
