They say most do it. Most of the time we run monologues and imaginary dialogues in our heads when we're driving on the road, when we're stressed, or even when we're walking along the beach. Whenever we find ourselves alone there are times that we just need to verbalize our thoughts and let it all out So, what do you say when you talk to yourself?

Usually I just complain out loud. Like when I'm at the gas pump, I say things like "Come on, take the credit card." and "Why are the hoses always twisted?" and "Hurry up, this gas is filling up way too slowly."
Then sometimes I realize I'm talking to myself and shut up after I keep talking to myself saying "ha. Wow. I was just talking to myself that whole time."
Then I feel like an idiot.
:P

I don't really address myself or direct comments toward myself. I usually just ask the air, or whatever higher power is listening. Sometimes I talk to people who aren't in the area anymore, like muttering under my breath, except I'm talking about something that happened 5 minutes ago. I just have to get it out (laughing at people when I'm out of earshot falls into that category too)

A lot of the time I'm talking to the computer, trying to encourage it to work. I try a lot of different approaches on this, from the baby-talk to the tough love approach. Once I even tried good-user/bad-user but it sucks when you have to play both of those parts. It looks pretty psychotic, and then I end up saying "what the **** am I doing?"

Thank God I live alone at the moment. :)

If I am thinking of someone and asking questions to that person in my mind like, "What happened?" or " Where are you right now?", I imagine the response in that person's voice and can actually go on with a monologue in my brain .

:)

It's not talking to myself that worries me-it's when I answer myself that's freaking me out.
