Is it OK to hang a ceiling fan in room and fan not in center of the ceiling/ room?

What is down side to doing this?

yes, absolutely. but your not going to get 100% of the room evenly. and you have to make sure you have a solid structure to hang it on. what's the cieling made of? if sheetrock, you may have to go up in the attic to mount a cross brace, and run the electric to it. if concrete, use tap-cons to mount the cieling bracket, and use one that has the built in cord, run it along the cieling, and down to an outlet. more info- jmfloridakeys@yahoo.com

It will look strange. The airflow will also be uneven.
