Chopin's Op.10, Op.25,and Trois Nouvelles Etudes?

Currently I'm in the process of mastering Op.10 No.1 and Op.10 No.4. These are nicknamed The Waterfall and Torrent, respectively.

I just wanted to know where these names came from, and perhaps, start a discussion on this.

I have not heard these names before ; sounds like a publisher's gimmic.
