I know that they came here at different times, right around the turn of the century. They were both from Austria and were Croation, but there is no information on the Ellis Island Website, I've tried several different spellings of their names to no avail. My grandmothers name was Louise Zorich (Americanized) and my grandfather's name was Alex Bogovich. I believed that he arrived first and then she. From family stories, she came here with her younger brother/brothers and one of them died onboard and was buried at sea, not uncommon unfortunately.I long for information, especially as I grow older.I'm 50 now and they are long gone. He passed away before I was born and she in 1968.They married and settled in Chicago and had several children, my dad for one.My question is, is there any other way they could have arrived other than Ellis Island or Philadelpia, since I've already checked the websites of both of those ports? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Patty Bogovich/Howard

Did you know that Buddha isn't considered a deity? Will that help you cut down on your list of deities to reference when speaking of other belief systems that you have no knowledge of other than what you might have heard from other people who didn't have a clue about them?

Everyone is so upset of the fact that as a religion, Mitt Romney states he is a member of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons). Prior to getting involved in politics, I am not sure what he did for employment, but am quite sure it wasn't for his church. My question is for those who find fault with him, why isn't the same if not more scrutiny being given to Mike Huckabee, who prior to entering politics, was a Southern Baptist not only by profession of faith, but by Profession, as he was employed by the Southern Baptist Association as a minister of the gospel. Isn't that blurring the lines between church and state a bit more than Romney who is only a member of the denomination and not employed by it?

Thomas Jefferson... our 3rd president, also the author of the Declaration of Independence...

Its too bad he would be shunned and laughed off the stage today - he was really anti-religious. Just listen to him:

"I have recently been examining all the known superstitions of the world, and do not find in our particular superstition, Christianity, one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology."

Thomas Jefferson was a very reasonable man. Highly educated, very rational. Do you think America will ever have leadership like him again?

There are a lot of questions that ask "what is a good age to start having kids?" And more than half the answers are, or start with "when you are married."

Do you think it makes your relationship more stable? Do you think it means you are less likely to separate? Do you think people cant commit to each other if they didn't promise it at a church?

Marriage does not commit two people. It's just a promise, that statistically will be broken. ...... then will cost a lot of money.

Just curious, why people think marriage = responsibility?

My husband has treated me awfully & I finally am going to file for divorce. He has cheated, lied, kept secrets, gambled away the $$$ that he controlled, had me working for him w/ no pay, didn't pay the mortgage and now my house that my Mom gave us is gone. I am living in her spare room with my (his step)kids. It has only been a few weeks and we still talk on the phone. I am going for a job as a bartender at a local strip club only because it is close & my car can't handle a lot. It is a start. He seems to disapprove, even though he put me in the situation. He won't even admit to all that he has done, just tries to justify it & that infuriates me. I can't help for some unknown reason seeming to care what he thinks, WHY??? Why can't I get mad or hate him? Afterall that he has put me through. It makes me feel so stupid. I am way too forgiving! I don't understand why I would care what he thought or how he feels, when he never did me.
