Not going to be easy, as Win98 was never designed with dualboot in mind. Usually you need to have 98 loaded first.

MIGHT be a bootmanager will be able to help, but will probably need 2 hard drives, and 98 installed with the XP hard drive disconnected first, then reconnect the XP, and use a boot manager.

Google for specific managers

The only practical way of doing this effectively would be to install a second hard disk, and put Win98 on that drive. You can then set up a boot menu, that will require you to select which disk to boot to, and thus which OS to use.

Keep in mind that the drives required to run the computer devices in Win98 are totally different than those set up for Xp. You will need to download all the drivers for all the devices to a file on your hard drive, before you attempt to load Win98. Unlike Xp, Win98 contains nearly none of the drivers you will need to make your hardware work.

I would have to wonder why you want to install such an old OS when you have Xp? Are you aware that Xp has a compatibility mode which will allow many, but not all, Win98 programs and games to work inside of Xp. This would eliminate the need to have two OS on your machine, and the troubles you may run into with that. Most of the programs like Word, Photoshop, and others that were installed under Xp, will not run under Win98, without installing a second version that uses the Win98 drivers. This will require a lot of work and hard drive space.

You could always make your computer a dual boot computer. Keep your Hard Drive with XP on it and install a second one for 98. You have to keep the second HD under about 60 gigs because 98 uses the old FAT32 file system and you were limited to how large the hard drive can be. If it is too big then you lose disk space.

you can't do it without erasing XP you will have to format and double partition you can use partition magic keep in mind that XP is in a NTFS format and 98 is in a fat32 format, it can be done I do not see the reasoning maybe make a master and slave leave the master at the XP and install 98 on a slave and boot up to it when you need on the 98, I charge 85 a session and 100 an OS, I suggest you consult an expert in your corner or the world.
