It goes like this:
1/2 //// (x^2-2x-3)=0
x^2-2x-3=0
(x-3)(x+1)=0
x = 3, x = -1
(3,0) (-1,0)

Where did 1/2 in front of the square root go?

very often the first answers to any question which tend to expose the corrupt nature of the current administration are meant to degrade the question and/or it's message !! also i noticed that they are supposedly kind of new on YA or they are back to YA with a different name in order to play dirty psychological game! afterall what else should we expect from these groups of people who support the present corrupt administration? that is a true representation!

i am coming to find that most christians believe that they are celibrating pagan holidays.. but just dont care.. and they call them christian holidays anyways. i understand the idea of being compfortable and wanting to spend time with your family and friends and things like that.. but... why celibrate the holiday if you dont believe in it? why not just get together with your family on a different day and trade presents for fun or something like that?

my check engine light came on yesterday so i brought it to autozone. they hooked their little gizmo up and said i need to check my vacuum hoses or i may need a new catalytic converter. she looked it up and said that there isnt one that fits my car so they would have to cut and weld a new one on. has anyone else had this problem? is it expensive to fix? is it bad to keep driving the car if the catalytic converter is going bad?

Not looking to slam anyone here. Just feeling Agno-curious, I guess.

By "not being sure" (if that's correct?), doesn't that mean you don't have faith?

I call myself an atheist because I don't believe (i.e. have faith in) god. That's all there is to it, the long and short of it (the *ahem* Alpha and Omega, if you will). I think most atheists on this forum would agree with that definition?

IF someone could prove god existed, or if I had some kind of personal ephinany that convinced me I could "feel" god's presence, then I would believe in god. How is that different than Agnosticism?

Barry Bonds pretty much has admitted to taking steroids. But will he go to jail because he KNEW he was taking them?

""Therein lies the crux of the case: Not whether Bonds ever used steroids or performance-enhancing drugs, but whether federal prosecutors can prove he did so knowingly.""

Every form of organized government has at least one and at most a very small group, that is realistically in charge. They may not be the leaders in name, but they are the de facto rulers of the nation. Therefore, every form of government, from democracy to theocracy to fascism to communism is logically equivalnet to either a monarchy or an oligarchy.

Think of it this way. Imagine a country with nuclear weapons. These weapons are under strict controls and safegaurds. Typically, they require two people to fire, and only certain people have the necessary codes to do it. If the leader of the coutnry wants the nukes fired, he sends an order to the silo, and these two people fire it. Or, they may decide not to, and face the consequences of insubordination and treason. Alternatively, if those two men decide, they coudl launch those missles without an order from the leader. It doesn't matter who the leader is, because those two men are the ones actually in control.

Most of the trivia that I could ask about would be more than easily found using this very equipment.

If I were asking for opinions - would I trust the advice given by strangers who may or may not have my best interests at heart?

Or would I post points of interest that may just bring into the open the people of interest out there who actually have something worth listening to?

Arrogant? Maybe. Don't mean to be. But I just wish some of the posts were more than the scratchings of someones cranium in order to see letters printed on the blank page.

How about opinions to be challenged? Thoughts to be questioned? Ideas to be debated?

Who cares who had the most hit singles in 1964!

By the way - who did have the most hit singles in 1964 - I just know someone will tell us!

I think it's the people who have the influence to kill millions rather than the people who physically kill. People like Hitler, Stalin, Hussein, Pol Pot, Charles Manson... they never actually killed anyone yet killed millions. (except for Charles Manson but killing one is just as bad as millions)

No, the real reason, not what CNN is telling us. Maybe not even what Senator Kennedy is telling us, cover up... Because they didn't even show them to any of the committees (Senate Committees) designed to oversee what the CIA does in OUR name.
"We the People" are responsible for what's done in our names, by our country. We have to keep America Free.

What would happen if Hitler would have used an Atomic Bomb?

During World War II, the United States introduced the Atomic Bomb and used it against Japan to end the war in the Pacific. Germany was actually very close to developing an Atomic Bomb also, but the Allies were able to invade Europe and defeat Germany before Hitler had the opportunity to use the bomb. If the Allies hadn't of gotten to Germany in time Where do you think Hitler would have dropped the A-Bomb if he would have had the time? How would it have changed World War II? How might it have changed the world today?
