No, the real reason, not what CNN is telling us. Maybe not even what Senator Kennedy is telling us, cover up... Because they didn't even show them to any of the committees (Senate Committees) designed to oversee what the CIA does in OUR name.
"We the People" are responsible for what's done in our names, by our country. We have to keep America Free.

Seems that way to me Furge. I tend to think Hillary shredding papers is a sign of guilt too. The CIA would have shown these to the Senate, then destroyed them if there was nothing incriminating or illegal in them.

Interesting Captain, I hadn't seen that. Senator Kennedy said that the Senate Oversight Committees hadn't seen the videos.

Because what they did was illegal and they didn't want to be caught

If I was the CIA, I would destroy the videos once I was done with them. There are way too many moonbats out there, trying to chime in on what they believe is torture and what they think is illegal. Hey where were all those people before the war. Thought probably hadn't crossed their minds. Hey where were those people the first year or two of the war...Nowhere. Convenient how now, where there has been some complaints about the war that these "issues" pop up. The media and all these liberals are what keeps this war from being successful. Just hush up already. If we could just go in there and kick butt like we can, it would be over already. But all these tree hugging moonbats out there, want to do what ever they can to slow progress. They are so for throwing up roadblocks that they don't care if we lose. As long as in there minds they win, the end justifies the means. Fact is, without killing them, ripping arms off, or fingers, etc, I am for whatever means brings us info. This isn't a way against another country, this is a war against terrorist. Do you think they will follow any kind of rules? Remember those people getting their heads cut off on video. Goodness sakes. People should be ashamed of themselves. Joe schmo's idea of torture and mine are probably different, So rather then tying our governments hand and then criticizing them when they lose, let's have faith they will do what is needed to protect us. So destroying the video if anything was probably just an attempt to eliminate the inevidable moonbats from having anything else to twist the arm of the government. Plus is there some sort of law saying they have to video tape it, or keep the video. Probably not. So people just need to let it go and find some tree to kiss.

"Because they didn't even show them to any of the committees (Senate Committees) designed to oversee what the CIA does in OUR name. "

The US Senate was informed 4 years ago.

http://www.wtopnews.com/?nid=116&sid=1305820

"Rep. Jane Harman of California, then the senior Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, was one of only four members of Congress in 2003 informed of the tapes’ existence and the CIA’s intention to ultimately destroy them.

“I told the CIA that destroying videotapes of interrogations was a bad idea and urged them in writing not to do it,” Harman said. While key lawmakers were briefed on the CIA’s intention to destroy the tapes, they were not notified two years later when the spy agency actually carried out the plan. Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., said the committee only learned of the tapes’ destruction in November 2006."

They knew and they did nothing.

"The CIA would have shown these to the Senate, then destroyed them if there was nothing incriminating or illegal in them."

actually they showed them to the watchdog group and they said it was not torture. combine that with the fact that the dems who knew of the tapes said nothing for 2 years and then again said nothing after they learned they were destroyed last year. SO all of a sudden NOW its a big story according to them. Not a chance. this is all because the Supreme court is about to rule on interrogation techniques and they want the useful idiots to raise a big stink again right before. Also its interesting that you convieniently leave out that it could possibly be something on the tapes we dont want others to see or hear that is NOT illegal just secret. ofcourse when you think the administration is nothing but evil and the military are nothing but thugs it couldnt be anything like that it must be something sinister right.

They stated that they destroyed the videos because they showed people who were high level opratives who needed to have their identies kept secret. I don't know why it wasn't shown to the Senate oversight commitee though. It's not like they would have done anything if they did though.

I think it is propaganda. Some things need to be kept quiet but i do not believe we tortured like people say. There is no proof that i have seen.

Torturing? The news release I read said nothing about "torture". It said something about interrogation. If a terrorist combatant has information about a nuclear device that's about to go off in your city, to what lengths would you go to prevent the unthinkable? Would you not employ every technique you could to extract that information? Water-boarding isn't going to kill anyone but that nuclear device has the potential to kill millions. Enemy combatants have NO civil rights...never have had...and never should have.

So you know for a fact that the videos where of them "torturing" prisoners. So that means you must have seen them? Because none of the rest of us know that. Come on, show them to the rest of us. I want to know.

Since torture violates US law and the Geneva Convention, they were keeping Bush from being impeached.
