Most of the trivia that I could ask about would be more than easily found using this very equipment.

If I were asking for opinions - would I trust the advice given by strangers who may or may not have my best interests at heart?

Or would I post points of interest that may just bring into the open the people of interest out there who actually have something worth listening to?

Arrogant? Maybe. Don't mean to be. But I just wish some of the posts were more than the scratchings of someones cranium in order to see letters printed on the blank page.

How about opinions to be challenged? Thoughts to be questioned? Ideas to be debated?

Who cares who had the most hit singles in 1964!

I care that this is a wonderful platform for people to speak and be heard and to be responded to - lets use it to spark intelligent interaction amongst the greatest audience available on the planet.

By the way - who did have the most hit singles in 1964 - I just know someone will tell us!

Sometimes I post a question to receive a definitive answer, but then again a few have been more of a conversation starter. You are right, there are those out and about (and I admit at times I do the same simply because the question is so innane) who only respond to be able to see their name in lights. What you have to remember is that this forum mirrors society in general - a lot of good and some not so much.

Both. This is a great forum. If I have a question and need some help, I post. I don't think I ask stupid questions but I don't know. I definitely love to debate and discuss.

I mostly use YA as a sounding board. I get a lot of crazy ideas, and they all seem to make sense in my own head. But, often, they fall apart when someone else starts looking at them. I like to post them, and get peoples thoguth so I can tell what's workable and what's jsut my personal insanity.

I would say a little of both.
As for the opinions of strangers....often they can be much more subjective and give new avenues of thought, in other words they can be useful.

"...spark intellingent interaction..." I see that happening in this venue quite often, is why I keep coming back.

"How about opinions to be challenged? Thoughts to be questioned? Ideas to be debated?"

Thats what I come here for, except I wish this was more like a forum. On the upside, I kind of like how it forces you to be thoughtful and concise since you only have one chance to speak, I just wish there was more opportunity for rebuttal.

I post questions either because I genuinely want to find out other people's opinions about something, or because I want to know something.

Don't be Yahoo Answers elitist, keep it free. yeah loads of the questions are a bit stupid, but that's the fun and just ignore them.

I usually ask to get an answer to something I don't know that I truly need to know, and a number of times, I have received good answers. Sometimes I get junk answers.
