Long story short, my FMIL plays head games....such as pitting the grandkids against each other, pitting the SILs against each other, playing favorites, etc etc.

Example: My future nieces (named Kaleigh and Haleigh - crazy I know) are only 2 and can't tell their names apart. If the correct grandkid doesn't listen to her when she calls her name, she spanks them. After I saw this, my FMIL turned to me and said, "____ and _____'s kids are complete brats" (in front of the mothers) and "you better have better behaved kids than these little shi**."

Needless to say, going over to her house is completely awkward and not a very joyous occasion.

I'm supposed to go over there tonight to have dinner. I love my fiance very much, and have of course bitten my tongue whenever his mother says rude things to other people (she is NEVER rude to me, just plays mind games).

What should I say/do when she tries to get my FSILs and me against each other? So far, both the FSILs *hate* me.

Any ideas?

this guy i like was talking to me on IM one night and he asked who i liked, so i told him that i liked him. He seemed cool with it and we kept talking. the next day, he sits next to me in one of my classes and starts flirting big time. like playing with my computer and joining in on every conversation. After this he doesnt talk to me anymore on IM and when he does is very brief. Last night i tried to talk to him and he left in exactly five minutes, right up to the last second. It's not like I had a stop watch but on IM it gives you the times everything was sent. it was just something i noticed. then, in school today, he tries to talk to me more like joining in on my conversations and helping me with my work and stuff. then he sits right behind me in writing and we were both turned around so we would occasionally make eye contact.

but i like him and i wanna know if he likes me too.
what game is he trying to play???

I have a high pitched tinnitus that I've been told is a result of nerve damage. (Where I got the nerve damage no one knows because I've had this since I was a kid and I've never been around loud noises that I know of.) Anyway, I'm wondering, since we lose our hearing, especially in the upper ranges, as we age, is it possible for me to go deaf enough not to have tinnitus anymore? Or since it's nerve damage am I going to have this high pitched ringing forever? (I'm actually used to it and usually ignore it. So I'm just curious, not stressed about it.)

If you must follow Christianity then why not adhere to its doctrine? I have read many answers on YA from 'some' Christians who show a definite lack of spiritual generosity. They disrespect other faiths and blatantly insult those who do not share their beliefs. Yet, they blindly promote their 'Christianity'. Is this OK by you?

36. Statistics. The following table gives the free throws attempted (FTA) and the free
throws made (FTM) for the top five players in the NBA for a recent season. Calculate
the free throw percentage for each player by writing the FTM over the FTA
and converting this fraction to a decimal.

Player FTM FTA
Allan Houston 363 395
Ray Allen 316 345
Steve Nash 308 339
Troy Hudson 208 231
Reggie Miller 207 230

My grandfather was a fruit peddler in Melrose Park Illinois. Anyone happen to be from Melrose and remember him? I can remember stories Grandma told of when he "got modern" and got rid of his cart, he purchased an old school bus, took out the seats and put in wooden shelves with bins. I got to go to the Water Street Market with him in Chicago and tag along as he bought his fresh fruits and vegetables.

I remember the "banana man". He was black and he always gave me a banana.

Hi. I was wondering what the specific philosophical differences are between atheists, humanists and realists.

I am putting it here instead of R & S because I really just want the facts and not the pros and cons of these three schools of though VS. any religion.

Are the three of them pretty much the same or are there significant differences?

Thank you all so much for your thoughtful answers.

I had a bad cold over the weekend, and I think I'm almost over it, but my voice is not all the way back and it's obvious that I've been sick recently. Am I going to offend my dental hygenist by going to my appointment tomorrow with any remaining cold symptoms? Should I call today and cancel?

In general, how sick is to sick to inflict yourself on a dentist or hygenist?

I am 29 weeks pregnant. 2 months after I found out I was pregnant, it seems like everyone else I know got pregnant too. I was really excited when I found out I was pregnant because it was not an easy thing to accomplish(it took 4 years). So , anyways 2 months after my husbands cousin called and said she was pregnant. I was happy for. I just knew that nothing was more important to me than my pregnancy. 2 weeks after that, one of my friends found out she was pregnant and didn't come to my baby shower because she said she should be worrying about herslef instead of someone elses pregnancy. How does pregnancy prevent you from going to someone elses baby shower? Anyways, the thing that really pisses me off is that my husband and I had our names picked out from before we actually got pregnant. When we found out it was a boy, it was already planned that we are going to name him Christian Antonio. On Sunday, his cousin told us that they too were going to name their son Christian. I am pissed.

Christian groups seem to take offense with the concept of the "Holiday Season" and the expression "Happy Holidays". The vast majority of religions have some form of celebration around the winter solstice, but Christians seem to think that anything other than "Merry Christmas" is offensive.

Personally I find this attitude offensive.
