Indomethacin is the best cyclooxygenase-1 (COX) inhibitor. Ibuprofen is in that COX-1 class and is nearly as good. Aspirin is not generally used for inflammation, as it permanently inhibits platelet action, thus can cause bleeding and bruising problems for a lot longer.

I agree, a baby aspirin per day can be possibly helpful to persons at risk for heart attack or stroke.

I think aspirin. It's been around for a LONG time and is proven beneficial in so many areas. Ibuprofen is my second choice. The one I WILL NOT use is acetaminaphin (tylenol). It can cause liver problems if you drink any kind of alcohol or take one too many. It does not help pain, fever or discomfort (in my own experience) as well as the 2 others. I just don't think it's a good drug. Albeit their new commercial stating how all of their employees care about you.

The docs always tell me to use ibuprofen for inflammation, but I'm also supposed to take an aspirin a day for heart health. Just went to doc last week and prescribed 24 hour ibuprofen for inflammation shown on xray, for 2 weeks.
