I do believe one of the points of the American Revolution, and Thomas Paine's "Common Sense," was that it is dumb to be ruled by a leader who lives on the other side of the world. We didn't particully like his rules....;)

DON'T YOU THINK THAT WE ARE BEING A BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES? ;) ( I just wanted to make sure you saw the real question...)

I"m trying to remove thick layer of carpet glue from concrete slab in order to prepare the slab for either painting or staining. They sell this stuff at Lowes and claim 1 quart yields 1.25 gallons of mixed product. They further claim that it will cover approximately 6 square yards. If it works, it is by far the cheapest solution for removing carpet glue. Anybody know anything about it?

Looking at the high number of kids in school (obviously from the questions) that are asking questions that look like school work.
From the lack of even basic knowledge of the subject of history shown in those questions.
And the old statement about those that don't learn from history.

Are we as a society doomed to get hit by everything repeating itself on the next generation?

I can set the ring volume and it makes the right sample noises.

When however someone calls the number, the front screen illuminates; but it doesn't make any ringing noise. If you answer the 'phone you can talk with the other person. Nor will it make any noises when a text arrives, although it has been set to do that too.

It's been turned off & on again, Battery has been taken out and replaced, and we have tried an alternative SIM. It was originally with Virgin, but has been unlocked to all networks.

Any constructive suggestions out there?

Would you prefer a black-and-white, no questions asked moral code, or one with shades of gray? Why?

Disregard "legislated morality" please -- i.e., the government just might be wrong.

This is double-posted in Religion & Spirituality as well, if you want to comment from 2 angles.

Thanks all!

I'm having a bit of a problem. My newborn son LOVES to eat, he'll eat every half hour on average, and only one of my breasts produces milk for some strange reason! So, in other words I dont think I'm producing enough milk for his needs. I dont know for sure, but he's starting to get fussier after feeds like i'm not giving him enough or something. Should I suppliment with a bit of formula when I have no breast milk to give him? And if so, how much a day should he eat, and what kinds are the best from your past experiences?

Mine just recently started falling out in like gobs. Mainly when I take a shower or brush it. I dont do anything to it that I havent done for years (color, blowdry, the stuff I use on it). I have been really stressed lately, with the semester about to be over, my job changing, moving, talking to my ex alot, and other personal situations.

What can I do about it short of trying not to be stressed? Will it stop falling out, and will it grow back. Hate to sound so vain, but its the only thing I really like about myself.

I had a baby 7 months ago. My husband and I have had it rough since we got married. We fought a lot. In september I noticed he acted weird when his phone was ringing late one night. I picked it up and he grabbed it out of my hand. Than after that he never left it in my sight. I got his phone and called the number. A female answered. I confronted him and after a week he said it was a woman he met online. He said he talks to her about our relationship because he's not happy with me. I found out she's 45 minutes away from us. He said he wouldn't call her again. Since this, he leaves his phone around and I check it frequently but there is no action on it. Do I trust him again? Do you think he cheated? I don't know what to believe anymore. But our relationship seems to be getting better even though we still don't have sex often. I have to initate it always. Now he's not so secretitive. Oh and... he said that she had a child. I said yeah so what I have a child. It was so weird.

The crusades were not the brainchild of an ambitious pope or rapacious knights but a response to more than four centuries of conquests in which Muslims had already captured two-thirds of the old Christian world. At some point, Christianity as a faith and a culture had to defend itself or be subsumed by Islam. The Crusades were that defense. What say you?

when I see them on t.v. I mute it. so I can see them. I don't want to hear what they have to say because it is usually a crock of lies. I did that in 2000 and i was right. Have you not realised by now that they will say anything to get what they want? sure as soon as they get what they want who's to say you will get what you want out of them?
this is in immigration cause i see alot of talk about who will do this and that about immigration? well nobody knows. MUTE

You have to choose between three rooms:

The first is completely engulfed in fire, and you'll be doused in oil before you go in.
The second is full of all your exes with loaded guns
The third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years.

Which room do you choose?

I found a quote from Thomas Jefferson that I really liked and agreed with.

"Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear. "

So I looked up more quotes by TJ and found this one to be interesting.

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature. "

What was he refering to with "orthodox christianity"?

My little 14 month old has something against veggies. She would eat ANYthing when she was getting jarred food, but now that she's getting the real stuff, she turns her nose up at anything that doesn't involve carbs. It's driving me crazy. Any tips on how I can get her to eat her veggies?

I've tried mixing them up in her food, but she still manages to pick around them. I've also tried to mix jarred veggies in with her food..that doesn't work either. She ends up refusing the whole meal if I do that. I'm at a loss. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
