The oldest Babylonian texts on medicine date back to the First Babylonian Dynasty in the first half of the 2nd millenium BC. The most extensive Babylonian medical text, however, is the Diagnostic Handbook written by the physician Esagil-kin-apli of Borsippa,[9] during the reign of the Babylonian king Adad-apla-iddina (1069-1046 BC).[10]

Along with contemporary ancient Egyptian medicine, the Babylonians introduced the concepts of diagnosis, prognosis, physical examination, and prescriptions. In addition, the Diagnostic Handbook introduced the methods of therapy and aetiology and the use of empiricism, logic and rationality in diagnosis, prognosis and therapy. The text contains a list of medical symptoms and often detailed empirical observations along with logical rules used in combining observed symptoms on the body of a patient with its diagnosis and prognosis.[11]

The symptoms and diseases of a patient were treated through therapeutic means such as bandages, creams and pills. If a patient could not be cured physically, the Babylonian physicians often relied on exorcism to cleanse the patient from any curses. Esagil-kin-apli's Diagnostic Handbook was based on a logical set of axioms and assumptions, including the modern view that through the examination and inspection of the symptoms of a patient, it is possible to determine the patient's disease, its aetiology and future development, and the chances of the patient's recovery.[9]

Esagil-kin-apli discovered a variety of illnesses and diseases and described their symptoms in his Diagnostic Handbook. These include the symptoms for many varieties of epilepsy and related ailments along with their diagnosis and prognosis.[12]

Assume an owl eats fifty 1g insects and one 100g rat. In terms of biomass, did the insects or rat contribute the most to the owls diet? How does foraging affect this? Is quality or quantity of prey more important?

If you could help me out with any of these, or give some links to any helpful sites, that would be awesome :]]]

It's so weird. You turn around and there's a person with their mouth gaped open, looking like their trying to catch flies, but they're yawning. It seems like I'm the only one who covers their mouth when they yawn... so, am I the weird one, or are people getting careless? (I know careless isn't the word, but I'm too tired to think of another word)

MY Bf still likes his Ex. i know it because i logged onto his myspace, and read his messages he sent her he said that she was hotter than me, and he still likes her "alittle" but he doesnt know if he should have asked her out. then he asked her "why did you break up with me?" when i read these messages i got soo crushed, i was starting to trust him but now i don't believe in anything he says. i know she still likes him too. i don't know if i should break up with him, because i'm scared she will go out with him. and that would hurt me even more, yeah i'll admit she is pretty, and she dresses preppy and i dress kinda tom-boyish..i feel like shes better than me. I feel bad because she is so outging and has a lot of friends, i think he likes her more than he likes me,she is also really nice to me even though i am kinda mean to her. i always catch him looking at her at lunch. then again i think he likes me more than her because if he liked her more he would have dumped me already, but then i think he just feels sorry for me. what should i do? i like him too much to dump him..do you think he really likes me??

Hello, all:

I came across a discussion about this on a LiveJournal community recently, and it was interesting enough that I thought I'd bring it here.

As a Wiccan, what is your attitude toward people with mental and emotional illnesses? Would you be comfortable working with them in circle? How about in an initiatory Tradition? Can a mentally/emotionally ill person, even if their condition is being controlled by medication, function effectively as a Wiccan in a group situation?

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.

According to the Bible, eating from the forbidden fruit brought forth death. Yet, we could not have been tempted if we had been pure at heart. So was not sin part of the equation of life, and the thing that bothered God was that we had learned of it's existence.
Thus, proving the Bible is the origin of sin. Without it, people would be innocent.
