Suppose 9 people run for election, and no one of them gets 50% of the vote. If you give office to the one with the most votes, you are giving it to someone whom the majority did not want. Perhaps the majority would prefer a different, compromise candidate instead of the one who won.
I thought about a run-off system: if no one candidate receives 50% or more of the vote, the bottom candidate is eliminated. Then those who voted for #9 vote again for one of the remaining 8, and so on, until a single candidate has the majority vote. But this is also not perfectly fair: perhaps, when candidate #3 is eliminated, a majority of voters would prefer candidate #9 to candidates #1 and #2, but they no longer have the ability to vote for him.

So for the question: suppose you have a list wherein all the voters have ranked the candidates in order of preference.
1) How would you determine the winner of the vote?
2)Why is this the ideal method?

I am very messed up and confused right now. I had to leave my house to calm down some anxiety. I went to my work (a grocery store) talked to some people, didn't really help much. Went home, ended up cutting my whole arm up, which I ain't done that bad for months now.

I dunno where to go or what to do anymore. I know what I SHOULD be doing (calling whatever hotline or whatever or getting some kinda medical help or whatever) i'm just too scared to do that kinda thing. I just dunno, my mind is a pinball machine right now, so many thoughts and feelings bouncing around I dunno even know what to describe it as, I just dunno...

I work 4-9 tomorrow, it'd like to do SOMETHING about these issues but i don't even know where to start and I wouldn't have the nerve to even do it anyways...

ok, I am 15 and my vagina is really wrinkely and looks gross. I hate the way it looks so much that i put wrinkle cream down there to try and get rid of it. Is there a cause for this? and how do i get rid of it?

Hey, my gf took plan b after the condom broke, i did not blow in her, i was only in unprotected for about three seconds, so maybe some pre-***, she had her last period on the 2nd of November, and we had sex and this happened on the 19th, and she took the plan b on the 20th in the morning, and it is now the 26th so only a week later and she got her period, a little earlier than expected, is this normal, and can she be pregnant? What should we do or is everything alright?

Doesn't that seem a tad bit on the ridiculous side?
Why do they need to call someone to ask if you are smart enough to stock cat food and press a few buttons. Doesn't that seem rather stupid?

I understand retail, and I understand the necessity of wanting to hire adequate, honest employees..... but, come on, it's not like it's rocket science. Cheerios go here. Mops go there. Cat litter is in ailse 5 and all product is pulled forward on the shelves. *duih!*

Why do they need you to provide names of people that can vouch for the fact that you're not a tard and can figure out how to stock cat food?

Well, in less you live in a cave with no TV, radio, or internet, I bet you know that earlier today the Chicago Cubs annouced they have re-signed Kerry Wood to a 1 year contract, so the Chicago Cubs and Kerry Wood have agreed to a 1 year contract 4.2 million dollars. Which is no where near, the amount of years no money they re-signed Carlos Zambrano for. And let me state right now, I am not a Kerry Wood fan. I think he is one of thier most overrated pitchers they have ever had, and he has spent which will know, if we can even count it as a 10 year carrier with the Chicago Cubs. And you might even wonder, why the heck to I even care. But what do you think of this move? Do you give it thumbs up, or do you give it thumbs down? MY husband has two children from his first marriage in the devours papers it said that he get to claim one child and his ex claims the other. But she is no longer takeing care of the children at all and they have lived with us full time not for about 9 mo now. I just wanted to know. Because i've been serching for almost two months now for printable sheet music and have probaly gone over 500 websites. But I just can't seem to find a good website for sheet music thats FREE. I'm in the acadamy for singing and i always have really good songs by Linda eder but i can never find sheet music without having to BUY it, so I can never sing them =( . So please, if ANYONE could find a good website to get sheet music for songs like "Diva Dance" by paul oakenfold/eric serra and songs by "Linda Eder" that would be AWESOME!!

I look at myself and I see how I have all these friends and it's just the same people every single day for the next three years (i'm a freshman), but what else? this seriously doesn't give me a push for wanting to continue going...it just doesn't...it'll be the same. I don't even know what I want to do in college. I find myslef lowing interest in even trying in school thas why my grades lowered becausethere's no goal ...nothing that i'm striving for. it's just sort of empty learning. I wish I had a goal and knew what I wanted to be but I don't. why don't i? then even if i know what to be then what? college then "career". Then what? work for the next days of my life. of my life. oh yeahthat really makes me look forward to it. *sarcasm* but seriously then what? i die. and boom i'm forgotten forever. like what the hell?! what's the point? if you could answer this question, give me a reason to tell me that we're all NOT just doing basically the same thing.

I have met someone just in the past 6 weeks who seems to want the same things I do, in fact he seems to be everything my husband wasn't. We had chemistry immediately, and it has developed in to a potentially very good prospect for the future. After 22 years of marriage, I need someone who I can actually lean on sometimes, especially now. Unfortunately it seems my new relationship is a mix of serious emotion and lighthearted banter, and when I call needing emotional support and he doesn't call back until after all his social obligations are met for the day, would it be a mistake to tell him I need to be higher on the food chain than babysitting his granddaughter (who is only 5 months old, it seems he could have called me back while he was watching her) I am not saying don't babysit, just when I call, why wait to call me back until late? Should I tell him I called because I was upset and needed to see him, or just pretend everything is fine and not put pressure on him to help me?

has anyone had this happen, i took a clear blue test and the strip went pink as it is supposed to but, after that it didnt do anything. it says that there should be a blue line to indicate that it had work. there was no blue line. not 100% sure on what it means
