This is a philosophical question. There will always be competition until there is only a single player. Think "there can be only 1" from the Highlander movies (old movies, old guy responding, and I didn't even see them all).
There is always going to be someone newer, faster, younger, better looking, or more talented that will come along.
Another possibility is that the rules of the competition will change. Michael Jackson may have been the King of Pop, but he changed the rules of the game when he got too weird, so we judged him not for his talent but for his personal life. Also, being "pop" became kind of un-cool, so thus went Michael.

It seems like most schools are trying to do this now. They make sure when awards are given out to anyone.. that everone else gets something with it. It really breaks the spirit of competition, because you know you are going to win something. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing though. Because while kids arent' "fighting" eachother to get certain awards, or competeing to be the best, they are also not trying as hard because they know that their mediocrity will be rewarded just the same as those who are the overacheivers...

well.. your plan of posting the same question twice doesn't seem to be helping..... but to tell you the truth, to eliminate all competition.... you have to be the best at all times :)
