We’ve had another great year on Yahoo! Answers, thanks to the people in the Answers community who take the time to ask and answer questions that keep us all interested, engaged, and often entertained. In fact, we spend so much time together online, it would be nice to meet up and get to know each other a little better in person.

Members of the Yahoo! Answers team will be in the Washington, D.C., area, on November 30 and we thought it would be a great opportunity to meet up with folks in the Answers community who live on the East Coast. Nothing formal or fancy, just a fun evening of food, drink, and conversation with others who are just as passionate about Yahoo! Answers as you are. So if you live in or near the nation’s capital (or even if you’re just passing through), please come and meet the people behind Yahoo! Answers, as well as your fellow Answerers.

Think you can make it? Great! Go to the event page on Upcoming.org where you can RSVP (you must be at least 18 years old to attend) and get additional details.

For those of you too far from D.C. to attend, we encourage you to organize your own meetups in your area. Some of you have bounced this idea around for a while, so why not use the upcoming event as a springboard for your own gatherings? You could swap stories in person and give your keyboard a rest.

We hope to see you in Washington!

Again, I'm not gay but everytime I ask a question like this people seem to get stuck on the fact I somehow must be.

All I have to say is, that if there is a gay person in the family, there is often a problem with them loosing relitives, friends over the issue. They also (and Im stereotyping) might not have a great relationship with their fathers, and need a good father figure (in God) to look for support, love, moral guidence.

Why would such a valuable resource push away these people, if anything they are prime converts, 'easy pickins' as they somethaves no family to rely on...I thought religion was supposed to be helping society, not destroying it.

I am very worried. I work in a small office with about 10 other people. Myself and few others have Windows XP and the rest of the staff have Windows 2000. XP offers regular updates. Recently XP offered me updates and I said yes. Since then the Windows 2000 users computers have stopped working properly. We are all linked to one server but surely the update would only affect my PC wouldn't it? They were processing orders through a program called Crystal Reports. They can still process the orders but now cannot print them, although they can still print emails etc. I need to know 1. Can accepting updates affect other PC'S? 2. If it has can it be fixed? 3. If I was to remove recent updates would things improve? 4. How do I remove updates? and 5. Will anyone know it was me?
I really didn't mean to do any harm. I thought accepting the updates was the correct thing to do.

The Bush-Cheney administration has been an administration that has used fascist-like, McCarthyite tactics and suspended fundamental liberties at home, including the nearly millennium-old Right of Habeas Corpus.

When President George W. Bush ordered the National Security Agency to proceed with warrantless domestic wiretapping, he knew he was establishing an illegal wiretapping program to spy on Americans, and that he was placing himself in a situation of illegality. If this had not been illegal, his attorney general would not have felt obliged to cover up the entire affair in order to protect the administration. In fact, under Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, the U.S. department of Justice has lost its long-held tradition of independence, and embarked upon a long list of politicized operations.

Once a politician embraces illegality, there are no limits. For instance, George W. Bush has paved the way for exercising martial law powers, first by de-facto repealing the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act that forbids the deployment of soldiers on American soil for domestic law enforcement, and, second, by signing last October (2006) the Military Commissions Act of 2006(MCA: HR 6166). Under this act, the president has granted himself almost-dictatorial powers to arrest and detain indefinitely any American citizen, without constitutional protections.

To top things off, President George W. Bush has relied on signing statements to assert that he has the power to disobey newly enacted laws in a manner that no previous president would have ever thought of doing.

My daughter had a bm this morning and it was tan-white color. I was very surprised. Anyway, she's 4 and just got over a bout of the stomach flu, lots of throwing up and a bit of diarrhea. But is white stool normal or should I be concerned?

my sister and her husband do all they can, but they barely get by. Their daughter has a congenital bone disease and it requires my sister to be home providing around the clock care. Her husband works sixty hours a week, but they barely get their bills paid. They are going through a rent to own place to purchase my niece's bed because they couldn't afford one outright and they pay every 2 weeks. They were late with their payment last time but did get the payment in on Tuesday. On Friday, the repo guy showed up because of a misunderstanding, but he called the office from their home and realized he wasn't supposed to take the bed. He then told them their next payment was due Monday and asked for a check to hold for the next payment. They don't have a checking account, but told him they'd be in Monday with cash. He lectured them about their payments and left. Later on, my sister had to run to the store to get some depends for my niece and he was in there- off the clock- and (continued)
