How did London manage to win the bid to host the 2012 Olympics?

If I remembered correctly, they are not a strong contender and the other bidders have more impressive facilities and material to help them by.

In fact, if I am correct, London had also made a late entry and was not considered a favourite to win the bid. They had also took a non arrogant approach throughout. So, what made them win?

Plenty of BAD mutations (cancer, Down's Syndrome, etc.), but have there been any that have improved the human race?

I know we had to have some good ones to evolve to where we are, but since we found fire and started writing on walls and made stone weapons, have had any good mutations?

If you ever testify in court, you might wish you could have been as sharp as this policeman.

He was being cross-examined by a defense attorney during a felony trial. The lawyer was trying to undermine the policeman's credibility....

Q: "Officer -- did you see my client fleeing the scene?"

A: "No sir. But I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender, running several blocks away."

Q: "Officer -- who provided this description?"

A: "The officer who responded to the scene."

Q: "A fellow officer provided the description of this so-called offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?"

A: "Yes, sir. With my life."

Q: "With your life? Let me ask you this then officer. Do you have a room where you change your clothes in preparation for your daily duties?"

A: "Yes sir, we do!"

Q: "And do you have a locker in the room?"

A: "Yes sir, I do."

Q: "And do you have a lock on your locker?"

A: "Yes sir."

Q: "Now why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow officers with your life, you find it necessary to lock your locker in a room you share with these same officers?"

A: "You see, sir -- we share the building with the court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through that room."

The courtroom erupted in laughter, and a prompt recess was called.

Keeping credit cards with high interest rates seems silly, when I am getting low introductory rates, and relatively low rates in the future. Will this change my credit score?

I'm getting married this Saturday!!! My fiance and I are very involved in our church and we make sure we pray together and read the bible together each day. We have promised to keep God in over our marriage since we both believe with all our hearts that God brought us together right on time. Are there other couples out there who keep God in their relationship? We believe this is the only true way for a marriage to stay strong and happy is with God. Anyone else agree?

Isn't that the time when people should have been worried about green living, recycling, saving the planet. If we had worried about it then, we wouldn't be having the problems of today.

Unfortunately stuff that isn't indestructable isn't patentable and corporations don't see dollar signs in this concept? Is this the reason.

I'm leaving global warming out of this equation, cause there is too much hype surrounding it, and it is not clear as to whether man is causing it or not. While whatever we are doing is not helping it, the science just isn't clear cut to me as to whether we are the sole cause of it.

Here is a link to most of the most recent scientist findings of evolution that were put into textbooks at my school and considered cold hard FACT.

http://evolutiondeceit.com/chapter10.php

We all know of them and we now know that they are evolution impossibilities. But for this breef time they were the facts and if I didn't believe them then I guess I was crazy.

Now evolution proves GOD false. So I guess scientist could use there imagination and draw up a bunch of pictures and make up stories so people would support their religious thoughts, while I was left asking questions.

Evolution Science is a religion for all the atheists of the world who want answers as to the genius of how the world was made.

They don't want to believe in God.

Some day I would like some one to show me the the magic pool of slime where all this life keeps comming from.

until then...

I'm a Christian.

I have a question specific to copyright / trademark pertaining to a web site.

There is a large transportation company in my state that recently started a light rail transport train. For arguments sake we will call it xyz company. Since there are numerous stops on this I decided to purchase a web site and I called it www.xyz-stops.com My plan is to have all of the stops listed on this web site and allow businesses at each stop to advertise on my web site based on category (dining, shopping etc)

My questions is... do I violate any copyright / trademark with this web site? I did seek out to the transportation company and they right away threatened me with a lawsuit if I pursue this venture.

I actually took a ride on the train the other day and saw numerous businesses with the transport company name in there like The XYZ Cafe, XYZ Storage, XYZ Realty

Just looking for any advice.
