I'm 23, my boyfriend is 19 and we live in 2 different countries. We have been dating for just over a year and we both aren't looking to marry or settle down soon but we are completely happy with eachother. We talk daily and are planing to move closer to eachother once I'm done my degree (I was already looking for a job where he lives before we even met). The first 4 months of our relationship we spent together in the same country. We trust eachother completely so that is not an issue. What do you think the chances that something like this will last? Do you have any success stories??

where did you get your faith from? did you develop it on your own or adopt one that already existed? if you adopted one that already existed, does it bother you that some of your own thoughts aren't incorporated into the doctrine you follow?

I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent.

We get it, we get it. Any sex that isn't vaginal intercourse between a man and a woman who are married to each other is a sin.

But not everyone shares your beliefs. We don't care how Christians choose to limit their sexual experiences, so why do so many Christian (some, not all) want to pass laws to force others to limit theirs? No one is making you watch, no one is forcing you to participate.

If two grown men want to have sex in their home, that's their business. If two adults of consenting age want to have sex despite the fact that they're not married, there's nothing wrong with that. Hell, if six people want to get together, spread themselves with peanut butter, and take turns licking it off, that's fine.

Ok, I just grossed myself out. Sorry. But see, I think it's gross and I'd never do it, but I'm not about to go around and try to pass a law saying that someone else can't.

A couple was sitting in church, the man was sleeping and his wife was knitting. The priest asked: "Who created the Earth and man?"

The woman poked the man with her knitting needle, and the man screamed, "GOD!"

The Priest looked at him and said, "That's right." Then he asked "Who is God's son?"

Once more the woman poked her husband with the needle, he woke up and screamed, "Jesus Christ!"

Again, the priest said, "Correct."

Finally, the priest asked, "What did Eve say to Adam, when she didn't want any more children?"

The knitter poked her husband again, but this time he got up and screamed: "Poke me with that thing one more time and I'm going to rip it off!"

Have any of you eaten at one? What did you think and where was it?

An EFL textbook for Japanese college students, written by a native speaker, has this sentence
"...Although he says he was floored by the news of the award, his students were not surprised at all..."
The author asks "What was his reaction to the news of the award?" and gives four choices: 1.he was embarrassed 2.he was proud of himself 3. ...sorry, I forgot,..... 4.he was very surprised.
Although I was not sure exactly what "be floored" implies, I thought the answer should be "4.he was very surprised," judging from the context.
But the answer given by the author is "1.he was embarrassed."
So please tell me, when you "are floored" by something, are you embarrassed rather than surprised?
