I'm 23, my boyfriend is 19 and we live in 2 different countries. We have been dating for just over a year and we both aren't looking to marry or settle down soon but we are completely happy with eachother. We talk daily and are planing to move closer to eachother once I'm done my degree (I was already looking for a job where he lives before we even met). The first 4 months of our relationship we spent together in the same country. We trust eachother completely so that is not an issue. What do you think the chances that something like this will last? Do you have any success stories??

Ok to add a bit of detail, he has come over here twice, both times being 1.5 months (so a total of 3 months in my country) and I have gone over to his once for half a month, no more due to school commitments. I've met his entire family and his mine. This plus the 4 months we were together in the begining. Added to that I'm going over again to spend Christmas and New Years at his parents place with his family. We both live at home, we have both travelled, I to Australia, UK, Costa Rica, New York, him to Australia, LA, Singapore, France, and Spain. We both LOVE sports and are both in the same place in life...ie he didn't go to college, I went to uni...he is going to be in his career before I am. Oh and we do talk daily, we use Skype...its free.

Wow....I have a handful of questions for you if you please. How do you date when say one of you lives in Argentina and the other in say, Sweden? Your phone bills must be ridiculous if you talk daily. And...about what? I've been married for 23 years and there are times I wish I didn't have to hear from my wife weekly let alone daily. Now you say you're planning on moving close to one another. How close. Because you say you spent 4 months in the same country together. If it was Russia or China...that's alot of space. Unless it was someplace like Lichtenstein. Which makes Rhode Island look like Texas. And I'm glad you trust one another completely. That I have to say is the same with my wife and I as well. And I do love her.

So....as long as you keep miles and miles apart from one another...this promises to be a bountiful and beautiful relationship. Move underneath the same roof? Hey Zoe. Life's a gamble. Despite wanting to commit homicide on occasion...we're still married and love one another. Just not the way you feel about...um.....what's his name right now.

And congratulations on the degree. People like you will succeed and benefit society greatly in whatever country you call home. Just have to bone up on life alittle more.

The best of luck to the two of you.

Walk away. All of those long distance relationships and internet boyfriend girlfriend crap is just that, crap. Hate to break it to you but I have been in a long distance relationship even after we were together for 2 years before he went into the military, didn't work. And come on, he's 19...do you really think at the hieght of his experimental/party phase he is going to want to be with a 23yr old who sooner rather than later will want to settle down? NO.

Don't have any expectations of each other and things should be just fine. Expectations are slivers in the body of an innocent friendship.

Just enjoy the time you have together and leave it at that.

At 23 and 19 he is WAY behind you in maturity and probably won't catch up....

but anything is possible.
