One of the greatest criticisms Protestants make against the Catholic Church questions our practice of sacramental confession. "Why tell your sins to a priest when you can go directly to God?" they ask. Our reply? Because this sacrament is one of the greatest blessings Catholics have. A sacrament - which no other church has - providing us with absolution of sin. The wonderful Catholic sacrament of reconciliation (confession) through which we who are repentant are assured of the Lord's forgiveness by one of God's special representatives, our priests.



Where in the Bible does Jesus give priests the power to forgive sins? In John 20, verse 23, Jesus says to the disciples, "As the Father has sent me so I send you...receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained." Jesus clearly expected the successors of the disciples, the bishops and priests down through the centuries, to continue

My ex-bf has been talking smack about me for a while now, and he won't stop! I don't say ANYTHING about him or do anything do him. So "ignoring" it isn't working, especially since now he's telling even MORE people. Its in the middle of the night you pass him and shortly afterwards your car breaks down and the last car to pass you was 3 hours ago.

You remember seeing that scarey 6 foot 5 man with the chainsaw and bloody hands just a while back... Its super dark no street lights just trees, grass, and animal sounds..

What would you do?

I would hop out my car take any weapons I would have more than likely my Pistols and crow bars and Jacks.. Hide out facing the direction I last seen ol boy and lay low till he pass the car. If he dont pass the car and start being nosey. Than thats his azz.. cause im taking the lead.

Im in the 10th grade and i really want to attend vcu(Virginia Commonwealth University) or Howard University in Washington DC.I would like to go to a university with pharmacy. I live in Atlanta,Ga and I have a 3.0 or 3.4(all B's in mostly every class) gpa right now.Are those universities hard to get into and do i need to make higher grades to attend either of those colleges.And is it hard for an out of state kid to attend?

instead of trying to intimidate some suspects/witnesses,etc to speak up and tell the truth,why don't they just quickly give them lie detector tests? I'm not saying they should depend on those tests entirely for a conviction or acquittal, but it should be key evidence? that way we'll have an idea if the suspects,witnesses or other people,whom testify under oath are lying or not? or whether the suspects or victims are truthful or if they're leaving out important evidence or adding false claims in their sworn testimonies? some people lie and cause wrongful convictions or wrongful acquittals so this will help save the innocent? they're already spending money so why not purchase lie detector machines and hire lie detector operators to give these mandatory tests and make it known that if someone reports a crime or is suspected of a crime, they will expect to be given this test? it's infringing on their freedom but aren't criminals infringing on innocent peoples' freedom, too!? your opinions?

can anyone suggest any thoughts i could convey to my daughter who seems to be losing her confience. She never used to worry about walking up and down our street or going to the local shop, but for the past 6 mths she is getting more and more anxios about being left on her own or someone coming to take her away.
I just want to be able to reassure her but find myself wordless when he tells me this. I always act gently towards her and comfort her with cuddles and tlc and listen to her, but its like I lose all of my communication skills. I usually manage to pick my friends up when they need it and my job relies on my communication skills so what can i do? do any other parents have any tips or advice on this ?
