a jetliner can fly 6.5 hours on a full load of fuel. Without any wind, it flies at a speed of 2.10 x 10^2 m/s. the plane is to make a round-trip by heading due west for a certain distance, turning around, and then heading due east for the return trip. during the whole flight, the plane encounter 55.0 m/s wind from the jet stream, which blows from west to east. what is the maximum distance that the plane can travel due west and just be able to return home?

A swimmer, capable of swimming at a speed of 1.3 m/s in still water (the swimmer can swim with a speed of 1.3 m/s relative to the water) starts to swim directly across a 2.2 km wide river. However the current is 0.91 m/s and it carries the swimmer downstream

a) how long does it take the swimmer to cross the river?

b) how far downstream will the swimmer be upon reaching the other side of the river?

Jesus, Muhammad and Buddha.

Let's guage what you think of them by having you form an imaginary quote like;

Jesus said "Peace and love"
or
Buddha said "Buy Wilkinson Sword razors".

Go for it.

Consider the following Linear Programming problem developed at Jeff Spencer’s San Antonio optical scanning firm:
Maximize profit = $1x 1 + $1 x 2
Subject to: 2 x 1 + 1 x2 ≤ 100
1 x1+ 2 x2≤ 100
a) What is the optimal solution to this problem? Solve it graphically.
b) If a technical breakthrough occurred that raised the profit per unit of , would this affect the optimal solution?
c) Instead of an increase in the profit coefficient that profit was overestimated and should only have been $1.25. Does this change the optimal solution?

their kids if the kids know they won't get a beat down or a backhand?? kid mentality is about avoiding PHYSICAL punishment. they never care about what they do only that they got caught which is why their apologies are meaningless. once you give them a yard they take a mile. it's this liberal mentality that is to blame for the state of kids today. my sis and and I grew up old school and it's why we didn't do anything out of line. we got the backhand when we DESERVED it and we knew we did. it's not abuse it's DISCIPLINE. what do the rest of you think??

... the lack ofoutlets for sociopaths? In previous centuries, if you had an urge to harm others, you could join the crusades or the inquisition. You could be a mercenary. In the old west, there was a market for Indian scalps to disuade attacks upon villages, so the government paid people to commit acts of horrific brutality. Executions were far more frequent and brutal, so you could be an executioner. There were "socially acceptable" ways of being a bloodthirsy ******. Like the KKK... these idiots could go brutalize people by night and then go sit on the board of Deacons every Sunday without fear of prosecution. Our crime numbers went up when we began criminalizing activities that used to be "acceptable." For instance, 150 years ago, an incident like the My Lai massacre would not have been given mention. It would have been seen as just a part of war. Local law enforcement, too, is now expected to adhere to strict ethical codes, whereas in the last century they could take

Okay, there is this woman I be-friended, whom I've known for almost 9 months now.
Well, I have a 6-month old son, and she offered to babysit him so that my husband and I can go out and spend some time together. I agreed that would be a great idea, BUT the next day I had to call her and let her know that we wouldn't need her to babysit, but hopefully in a couple weeks we could go out.

Well, she friggin started to make me feel guilty, and though I could not see her, I heard her crying over the telephone. I asked what was wrong, and she said that she missed her kids, and she was having a difficult time... She told me that she had been excited to babysit our son, and she had even told her mom about it, and that then I went and cancelled on her. WTF!?

That's when a lot of red flags started popping up in my head. And so then she began to insist that she come over and take my son for a couple of hours, and I kept telling her no, but she continued to insist....

The director who cast Diana Ross as Billie Holiday is considering doing a remake of this film to provide audiences with a holistic picture of this amazing woman. (He wants to deal the sensitive matters of her personal life, her being misused and raped by her manager and her issues with bisexuality).

I thought that Diana did a "decent" job with Billie Holiday although they look and sound nothing alike. (Diana was placed in that leading role b/c of her mega-star status in the 70's)
My QUESTION FOR YOU:

1. We all know that Jen won an Oscar for her role as Effie in Dream Girls, but do you think she is ready to take on a COMPLEX character like Billie Holiday.

2. Besides the fact that both women are "thick" they look nothing alike and sound nothing alike. Jenn's style is gospel and Billie's style is more of an eclectic jazz sound. In my view Billie's closest "vocal" match would be Anita Baker, Roberta Flack, India Ire, Eryka Badou or Jill Scott!!

What are your thoughts???

I work at a convenience store and we have a lot of regular customers. I recognize some of them, but I don't others, and they get really irritated when I card them for beer and tobacco everytime they come in, because they think I should automatically recognize them and remember that they're of legal age. What can I say, though? A lot of these people are really nondescript!
