No trailer park would be complete without an old camaro. Likewise, most younger folk with Mustangs seem to think they are the fastest and best built muscle/race car ever (even if it only has a 4- or 6-cylinder engine in it!). Let's settle this right now!!

Try to put aside the rational argumentation for the existence of G*d on this one. I'm curious here about the human emotions.

It occurred to me that the vast majority of atheists were born and raised as believers, including such prominent ones like Dawkins who used to pray to angels, Diagoras the very first famous atheist or even Jean-Paul Sartre who claimed he was an atheist since he was 12. They all had a well-developed idea what god is, so they definitely were not a "carte blanche" when they became atheists.

This transition from a believer to a non-believer almost always is an angry reaction against authority, which of course is an emotion. The rationale that Gawd doesn't exist (even though perfectly logical) seems to be almost an afterthought which serves mainly to further cement their disbelief.

A true atheist, in my opinion, would be someone who has absolutely NO interest in god or religion and would actualy do his best to avoid any such discussion.

When my best friend died in January I clung to God like I had never clung to God before. I honestly felt I had that "God-shaped" vacuum in my heart that you speak of. My attitude changed so much that my friends and family immediately noticed, and were rather surprised to hear me talking about God in such a worshipful way.

When I started on R&S, it was to find answers to some of my questions about Christianity so that I might reinforce my belief.

Instead, I found so many contradictions that it is impossible for me to continue to believe.

I really wanted to be a believer.
I am not a believer anymore.

And, to beat it all, I lead a generally happy life.

I really think, looking back, that I felt "God's presence" because I was so distraught over Chelsa dying that I just wanted something, anything to get me through it. Religion worked as a drug for me during that trying time in my life.

Your thoughts?

I have a friend (he can't decide if he wants to commit) who always has to be right because he is the man. In our life time I have experienced more than he has, I am raising a family (3) children, a home and he has a roomate, and no children. He is a good man but we bump heads all the time.Do I have to be quiet to be happy??

mine does it and complain too. he said i shouldnt ask him to do it. he drives and i dont. his working time is flexible coz he's in the insurance business. whereas i am confined at my workplace. my point of view is that since he can drive to just about anywhere to meet a client, he should be able to help me run an errand. for e.g. buy a box of pies. he said i should help him run errands too but i dont. pls help end his whiny complaints. lol

So I put my car on various websites and people from overseas keep emailing me about it. The want to buy the car and pay for the shipment. It's weird just because the are overseas. One guy said he will send me 7000 USD, if I deduct the final price and then use the rest for the shipment cost to his private shipper. i don' t know whether to trust them. Or should I just let them send me the money and not ship the car. What? They are overseas, who cares.

Thanks for your help.
