When ever I open Ms-Word the font format is always at small caps? How do i permanently remove this?

Simple:

1. Click Format->Font.
2. Deselect the Small Caps checkbox.
3. Click the Default checkbox.
4. Select Yes in the warning box that appears.
5. Click OK.

That should do it.

It has probably gotten set as your default style. Go to the format->Fonts page and change the option for small caps. Then when you come back to the document, drop down the styles combo box from the toolbar and select Normal from there. It'll ask you whether you want to copy the current format to the style. Say yes. You are done.

Open an empty document (open Word, without opening a document). Open Format. Select a Font, its size, etc...
At the bottom left is a button labeled Default
