The girl at the checkout started making comments on what i was buying. first it was the crest whitening strips and she says "this destroys your enamel, i would never buy it" i replied with a smile saying "it will grow back" and she says "no it doesn't" with a frown. Anyway then came the organic butter. she says" i can't believe you are paying $9 for butter, you have too much money".
isn't her job to take the money and pack the things and give the change back, since when does the staff of a supermarket has the authority to make comments on what the customers are buying.
i ignored this incident thinking its Canadian culture. i come from England and if this happened in my hometown, the chances are she would have been in a lot of trouble. My question is that is this a one off incident or is this common in Canada?
