No, it would be far better for you to have no other fish in the tank. The sucker fish would probably eat the eggs as they drop to the bottom.

Depends on what kind of "sucker fish" you are talking about. If it is an otocinclus(the only kind of sucker fish appropriate for a tank smaller than 30 gallons) then it should not bother eggs or fry. If it is the more common "sucker fish", a plecostomus, then it may pose some harm to the eggs and fry. If it is a pleco and you have it with a betta, you should get rid of it or get it a bigger tank.

No, it isn't. The male will probably bully it, and it might suck up the eggs, like MM said.
