They sold out to the "Unpopular Mechanics of Advertising Disguised As Intersting Articles" band wagon going on with most major magazines...
Every magazine out there now is ALL "advertising..."
I'm surprised they sell so well...(not really surprised...just disappointed in my fellow man...)

I wouldn’t say that Popular Mechanics has lost all credibility. Most of what they report on is highly accurate and informative. However, when it comes to them trying to defend the government “version” of what happened on 9/11, I am inclined to agree with you that something is suspicious. Even reputable scientific periodicals can be coerced to promote a lie when threatened by the government.
As far as Michael Moore and others going mainstream, I think that is merely an indication that the American population is not falling for right winger rhetoric anymore, because they have seen such concepts in action for the past 8 years or so, and have found that such Neocon policies have left this country in a state of disarray domestically, and in a state of disrepute abroad. This fact does not validate everything Michael Moore, and those on the far left are saying, but the sheer deficiency of truth and effectiveness of the right, forces most of the population to seek an alternative, no matter where they find it.

Alex Jones and Michael Moore can't be right both.I believe Alex Jones is a joke and his work is in direct contradiction of that of Moore. He also has totally no respect for Moore and questions his integrity.
On a pro Alex Jones website we read:Moore is a quack doctor --tapping at your intellectual knee to get it to react as expected.
For those who don't subscribe to knee-jerk politics, Jones offers a subtler film-noire vision, which will nag away at you and drag you face to face with the grim reality of geopolitical scheming.
The kind of scheming which is happy to see the War Party in the U.S. play 'Bad Cop,' so that the globalist, 'Good Cop' corporate elite can come to riding to our rescue.
Alex Jones and Michael Moore clearly aren't on the same team.I choose Moore,a real American hero.Alex Jones could be part of government control.

I wouldn't say that they've lost ALL credibility. They've always been too sensationalist about gadgets and their politics are decidedly right wing. But they're good at the nuts and bolts stuff and remain the source of record for gadgeteers, handymen, shade tree grease monkeys and guys who like to build their own airplanes.
Some people at the Pentagon did lose credibility though when Jimmy Carter got serious about Declassification of Defense material and Declassification clerks found copies of Popular Mechanics that were stamped "Top Secret."

Why are you asking this on the politics part of YA? That fat Michael Moore isn't even in the political game. He's a three time loser.

FYI: Michael Moore doesn't always tell the truth. I am sympathetic to a great deal of what he says, but the truth is the truth, no matter who you are.
If you are referring to the Popular Mechanics article on the 9/11 conspiracies, just because you may not agree with their conclusions doesn't mean that they are wrong, and they are NOT wrong.

What is the correlation between the people you quoted and Popular Mechanics? If you're talking about the wacko 9/11 theories and the fruit baskets that believe them, then I'm sorry to break the news to you, but you are not becoming mainstream in any category except the wing nut category.

I would imagine they would lose credibility due to reducing their magazine to political squabbles instead of focusing on what the magazine is supposed to educate about. In this case, mechanics. Do people buy mechanics magazines to read about the editor's political opinions or do they buy it to read about mechanical "things"?

Alex Jones & Michael Moore. You couldn't have used two better examples of "TRUTH"... Hopefully I'll never fall under the spell of those truth tellers like you drones have. :)

Because they did a debunking of Loose Change using fantasy science. Popular Mechanics is owned by a defense contractor so it is in their best interest to run blocker for the Bush administration and cloud the truth.
