If the bible said that God was a homosexual would you still believe it?

Also if Christians believe the bible to be true why is it that if there is something in the bible they agree with they think it is to be taken litterally and if there is something they don't agree with they say it is to be take metaphorically?

So which is it should the bible be taken litterally or metaphorically?

Circular logic and cherry picking are always applied:

“The Bible is God’s word, because God says so - in the Bible.”
"The Qur'an is God’s word, because God says so - in the Qur'an .”
“The Tanakh is God’s word, because God says so - in the Tanakh .”
“My essay is without error, because I say so - in my essay.”

ARGUMENT FROM CHERRY PICKING
(1) I only believe in the parts of the Bible that I want to believe.
(2) The parts I believe are logical and make sense.
(3) Therefore, the Bible is logical and makes sense.
(4) Therefore, the Bible is god's word.

The Bible is God's written Word. It is to be taken litterally although there are some stories in it that are not litteral such as the parables. When reading the Bible one needs to ask who, what, why, where and when.

The Bible is God's written Word to us.
It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.

“Above all you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1:20-21. (New International Version)

Breakdown of the Bible
36 human authors inspired entirely by God over 1600 years.
66 separate books

39 Old Testament
Genesis- The creation of the world, sin, flood and birth of Israel
Exodus to Esther- History of the nation of Israel
Job to Proverbs- the books of poetry and wisdom
Isaiah to Malachi- Prophecy or foretelling of the future events to come.

27 New Testament
Matthew to John - Four Gospels representing the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ now with all authority in Heaven and earth.
Acts- Birth of the Church (The Bride of Christ)
Romans to Jude - Letters to the Churches
Revelations - The ultimate future plans for: The Church, Heaven, Hell, a New Heaven and a New Earth.

Christians are too dumb to understand litterally or metaphorically. Remember these people also voted for George W. Bush & still thinks he's telling the truth! If Christians actually read the bible or became smart we'd all be in trouble. For now they can only believe what they are told.

I believe it is truth but it was not literally written by God, life was written by God. The Bible was written by people who were inspired by the holy spirit. We do not believe that it simply fell down from the sky.

Why do I personally believe that it is the truth about God? Or that there is a God at all? That would be impossible to describe to anyone but myself. The only way to determine what parts of the Bible are to be taken literally and which are parables/metaphors is through the holy spirit and keeping an absolutely open mind. Not just open but ABSOLUTELY open, assume that we are fools who need to unlearn everything and start over (become "reborn") with an intimate knowledge of who Christ is. This intimate knowledge that Christ gives can only be given to individuals who seek it with all their hearts. It is not like the factual knowledge that you can discuss in a forum or read in a school book. It is a personal relationship, though one that is totally and utterly different from the typical relationships between two average humans. This is why when Christians talk to non-Christians about the "Holy Spirit" or being "Saved" or with other religious jargon, the non-believers start to wonder if we are mentally ill, brainwashed, mentally retarded, or perhaps all three.

I don't really blame them for thinking this. We are a people preparing for another world. We are strangers. We can preach the gospel and teach the scripture but it is not our job to spread belief, just scripture. To believe, to become initiated, you must wait for God to find his way to you. Just keeping waiting and reserve all unnecessary judgement until that day when you and he are finally united. It may be tomorrow or it may be in many years but don't worry: he will arrive exactly when he needs to.

"If the bible said that God was a homosexual would you still believe it? "

This question is void becuase He didnt say He was homosexual.

"Also if Christians believe the bible to be true why is it that if there is something in the bible they agree with they think it is to be taken litterally"

Bible says to rightly divide the word of truth. Some is literal and some is figurative.

Ritly divide the word of truth.

if certainty be told, no. The words are there, yet we remember on the Spirit of God to offer us the discernment to appreciate the words. people who're no longer of the Spirit are people who get so wrapped up in the information and the words themselves that they are lacking the factor and the usually used message in the back of the words. besides, what makes you so specific that, even if the Bible became certainly transcribed by utilising adult males, that God became no longer in touch? I particularly doubt that mere adult males might have estimated the upward thrust and fall of each and every worldwide empire to administration Jerusalem (Daniel 7), the Roman Empire splitting into ten remnant kingdoms, the autumn of the church itself from being organic and God-pushed in the commencing to starting to be the very face of loss of life in the middle an prolonged time (Revelation 6), and the precise year that Jesus could be baptized (Daniel 9:25), all hundreds of years till now they befell. Prophecy is a testomony to the Bible, as are the ensures Jesus made that the Holy Spirit could come to human beings and supply them training and discernment (John 14:26, Romans 12:one million-2), which maximum Christians can inform you does certainly ensue whilst they ask Him something. i wish which you will a minimum of evaluate that hundreds of thousands of persons incredibly do talk with the Spirit that the Bible promised could come, and are not self-delusional or in basic terms fascinated by utilising BibIical passages to persecute the worldwide. you would be conscious of them by utilising their love. God bless.

Um God did not write the bible, his disciples wrote it in there own view and some passages in the bible are unknown who wrote them. If the bible said God was a homosexual I would not believe because it cleary states no man shall sleep with a man.

The phrase "Word of God" is being misused. Jesus use that term and he was not passing out Bibles in the parable of the Sower.

I was a Christian and investigated this matter in detail.
I discovered that, in fact, it was written by fallible human beings who tried their best to make a point. The words they wrote were of their choosing and were their own opinions.
At best these writings can only be described as the words of the prophet / soothsayer / apostle / disciple or some other such thing.
They are written in the words of individual fallible human beings, no more, no less. The writings are the individual views of these writers.
The same goes for all the other writings that have been de-selected from the bible.

The bible is full of hidden meanings. Because of the way it was written, only those who truly seek the truth will get it. If you truly seeked the truth you would look in there yourself and find it. Evidently not so... 2 points
