I'm 27 years old with two M.A.s and I work as a professor in a university. While I do dress professionally (clothes, hair, makeup), I do have two eyebrow piercings and a labret piercing that is visible. I also have a large tattoo on my upper back that is not visible. I've never had any problems with my employers (I actually work parttime at two universities) about my appearance. However, I'm trying to look ahead in the future, as I know I probably won't be with these two employers all my life. I do know that I from now on, as my career, I will work in a university setting as a professor or I will be working on my writing career. With all that being said, I'm trying to decide if getting a wrist tattoo will be a detriment in the future as far as work goes, or if I should go for it as I have chosen careers that don't have a huge emphasis on "traditional professional" appearances. Any thoughts out there?
