Im planning on moving out my home soon because its a lil to crowded and I need my own privacy and space. Most of all Im tired of cleaning up behind others. I dont know what apartment complex I want to move into yet but I was curious about what bills I would have to pay and which ones I dont have to pay. Thanks in advance

It varies from place to place. Generally in a complex you are responsible for the gas and electric and your telephone as well as the rent. In a private home apartment you generally are responsible for the fuel for heating the home as well and the water and sewer bill. For a first time renter, a complex is the better option, just make sure you're in a safe area.

Read the Contract. Or whatever it is called, Lanlord/Tennant Agreement or First Party,Second Party.
Look at your States website, most all states have Tenants Rights and Obligations explained by that States Laws.
www.(whatereversate).com/.gov
Some say pay Water,Sewer,Gas,Electric, and then add on stuff that is like Grounds Keeping, Carpet Shampooing, Cleaning and whatever else can be siphoned out of the Tenant.
Just look at the Contracts/Agreements , then look again.
Most are within State Guidlines, they sorta have to be, some are exxcesive some are very nice.
Your state website has all that info for FREE! Just takes a little looking.
No matter where you go, there you are.

What utilities are paid by who (you, or the landlord) is a matter of where you are (some areas have laws requiring the landlord pay all or some utilities), and what your landlord's policies are (some landlords will consider one or more utilities included in the rent whether it is mandated by law or not). In any case, what you are responsible for will be spelled out in the lease or rental agreement.

I suggest you look up a local tenant's rights organization, or call city hall and ask them what the laws are about renting in your area. That will give you all the information you will need to start out as an informed renter.

That depends. Most of them pay the water and sewage but not all do, and some of them pay all the utilities, but a lot of them make you pay the utilities. Just ask the leasing agent what utilities are covered by them and which ones you pay, when you call. Keep in mind that for a comparable apartment where the complex pays the utilites, they will charge higher rent than the ones where you pay the utilities.

It changes from place to place. When I first moved out on my own, I only had to pay for phone and electricity (and cable, if I decided to get it). However, the last few places I've lived have also charged for gas, water, and garbage.

Instead of putting your questions about regulations on floor space in the manners section, why not re post this in the law and ethics / Housing section. At least you will get definite answers and points in the right direction. Good luck. KD

Depends on your area. Most will have you pay electric. Others will include all utilities but at a higher monthly rate.

Ask each landlord for those specifics - they vary. Usually you pay rent to the landlord, and all your utilities; gas/electric, water, phone, and trash should be questioned.

Happy Moving!

It depends on the complex, though most have the same. They pay water and garbage and you pay heat and electric (or gas). Oh and phone.

You would probably have to pay, rent, electric, gas if you have a gas heater or cook stove...oil if you would have a oil heater and of course telephone, food etc.
