About a year ago I started noticing that I would feel this strange pinching feeling. It wouldnt last very long, maybe a minute or so but could sometimes be very intense, almost as if I was bing pricked by a needle. Sometimes the pinch will actually stop me for a moment, mostly because it catches me off guard. For a while I thought it could have been something serious and that something might be wrong but because it didnt happen very often I normally shrugged it off.
My husband and I started using an ovulation tracker about 4 months ago to help us get pregnant (well me obviously he cannot carry the baby! haha) and I noticed that the pinching always happened on the day I was ovulating!
My neighbor told me she has been able to feel herself ovulating from a very young age (I think she said 13-14). Now I wonder if I always did it and never noticed or if its something that just started.
However, if you are feeling a constant pain or something that lasts for hours or days...you might want to go talk to your doctor. Every woman I know that has had this pinch has said that it does not last very long.
I hope this helps :-)

It is defiantly true, it is your body telling you that you are approaching ovulation.
Yes I can feel when I am ovulating, like when I have all of the symptoms of ovulation, cervical discharge, temperature shifts, breast tenderness, etc.
Yes I usually have pain on the one side that I ovulated, it feels like pain (not sharp pain) just in the area of the ovary, that last for me about 1/2 hour.

Yes, lots of women feel it, so many that it has a medical name, mittelschmerz.
It's abdominal pain, an ache rather than an intense stab, at the ovary that's "firing." I feel it more sharply on the right than on the left. My daughter has it, too, but hers is symmetrical.
It's interesting, but useless, to know which ovary is releasing the egg. It always disturbed me when one side or the other would go twice in a row!

I can - I had an ovary removed many years ago. I know it sounds strange but my scar hurts when I ovulate.

Well its much like a cramping sensation and people ofter confuse it with just some slight cramping. So YES you can fell it but weather or not you know what your felling depends on how well you know your body.
