That there is no god, or that there is a god but it is completely indifferent to life in general?

Or perhaps is it that there is a god who is SO interested in the human condition that it spendds all of its time watching us like paranoid parents just waiting for their children to screw up?

Ricky, I assume nothing. Though, in my opinion, I'd take no god over an indifferent one or one that was constantly watching and expecting perfection any day of the week.

That there is no god, but there are people who believe there is a god who is SO interested in the human condition that it spends all of its time watching us like paranoid parents just waiting for their children to screw up.

That's most depressing.

The true God is not depressed or depressing, and there is nothing to watch everything that is is God. Our entire existence is only in the imagination of God and that is the sum total of our actual reality. Everything is perfect and there is no reason for alarm or consternation if you just quit fighting and flow with the universe all will become peaceful and in harmony.

Its more depressing that because people believe in a fairy tale they devote their whole lives to things like celibacy and not committing sins, therefore not living life to its full potential, and also that because of these beliefs other peoples rights to live may be infringed, such as how religions try to get abortions and stem cell research thrown of the face of the earth.as much as they do homosexuals and other things or peoples that differ from their beliefs that are always "morally best".

If someone raided a lab that was doing research in curing cancer, people would be outraged, however when your president vetos a bill of extreme importance in the field of genetics, people clap and cheer.

Well as someone who doesn't believe in God, I don't find that option to be depressing at all. I don't see the other option as being depressing either, though.

What a loaded question! Why do you assume that either case is depressing?

Both would be terribly depressing... I don't think either statement is accurate based upon my experience.
